A rather amusing story about Chinese deity Earth God 土地公公 and his interesting relationship with Santa Claus. We got this book from Taiwan when it caught my girl's eye very quickly and insisted on getting the book. It was particularly amusing for us as she had actually mistaken Santa Claus for the Earth God when she was 1.5 years old! An amusing read about friendship, worth the buy. #土地爷爷过圣诞

Very interesting book we got from ! Very practical tips on low carbon gardening, who would have thought there are ways to improve your garden to improve it's carbon absorption or reduction! Although some plants suggestions in the book are not tropical. Would be interesting if can provide the low carbon suggestions for carbon offset planting, grass free (mowing free) lawn options and wildlife pond!

One of her favorite book, Kunoichi the ninja girl. She likes it so much we have been reading it everyday for more than a month, sometimes twice a day. It got a little too painful for me to read it to her 😅 but she still wants it. For her five year old birthday, she received the other two books in the series and we read them the very night. Each book teaches different values such as resilience, valuing creativity and resourcefulness over money and treasuring the loved ones around us

Princess and the Pea - a beautiful retold version in Usborne Young Reading Series.

As an adult reader I truly enjoyed the additions of virtues to look for in a real princess (besides the illogical pea under twenty mattresses). The ending was kept true to the classic ending which was not upsetting for the young reader who adored the classic princess and the pea.

Elly and the Smelly Sneaker: A Riches to Rags Story

A fun and interesting twist on the fairytale of Cinderella, for the modern girl power. I am reluctant to read many of the classic fairy tales to her as it always depict a princess waiting for rescue from a prince. This is a refreshing and hilarious twist! Which after knowing the classic version, it is a funny and good comparison for the child. Girls can be strong, and play sports too!

Plus points for those (parents and kids) who love baseball with all the game terms in the book!

We had a good laugh on some of the twists. Swipe left to see fairy god... Erm.. father 😅

As parents, we have so much to do for the children. We have to plan for their studies, enrichment classes, homework and assignments. And it can be very stressful to push the child along to ensure everything is done.

Instead of helping them remember and prioritize in a herding mode, why not slowly introduce to them a way to self organize and prioritize? Helping your child learn to self organize and prioritize will not only buy more family quality time, it will also guide them towards independence, and decision making

Of course, this largely depends on the age of the child. And it doesn't have to happen as a one big bang where suddenly, the child has to plan and prioritize the day all on his/her own. It can start from a small task e.g. writiing Christmas cards or preparing the gifts.

As parents, we always try to do our best for the children. What if, that mean letting them take care of themselves at an early age? That would mean we allow them to make some mistakes (that does not result in dire or fatal consequences of course), and letting them be accountable and responsible?
