Bush School is now happily at home in our new shed, made possible through the funding support of Wingecarribee Shire Council and the generosity of our school families and wider community. 💚

And now the shed is set to become home to something new — a Repair Resource Library, thanks to a further Council grant.

Working alongside the fantastic volunteers at Repair Cafe Southern Highlands we’ll salvage useful parts and materials from items that have reached the end of their life, keeping them out of landfill and putting them back to work in repairs, bush school and other creative projects.

We’re incredibly grateful to Council for helping make this possible and for supporting practical, community-led action for a more sustainable future.

Such a happy morning celebrating Book Week and Education Week together! 📚

Our assembly was full of wonderful book characters, costumes and great performances. Afterwards the classrooms were busy with children proudly sharing their learning with their families. There’s always a great feeling around the school when our parents and families are here with us.

Some of our Gumnuts have been teaming up with a robot! Through play, problem solving and plenty of curiosity, they are discovering that technology can be full of surprises!

From little things big things grow.

Following ten intergenerational repair workshops run by our school in 2025, the Southern Highlands Repair Café has emerged into a community-led initiative that aims to continue sharing skills, connecting community, bringing generations together and reducing waste.

We’re excited that our students will be able to engage with, learn from and contribute to this initiative as it grows.

A rusty bicycle
A teenager looking for purpose
A new retiree with decades of skills to share
A child discovering how the world works

They all belong in the same room.

That's the vision for a Repair Café in the Southern Highlands.

We're looking for people who would like to help establish a Repair Café in the Southern Highlands. Whether you're handy with tools, can sew, repair electronics, organise events, make coffee, or simply want to be part of something positive, we'd love to hear from you.
