Our children and educators celebrated their love of books and literacy through lots of fun, imagination and creativity. 📖🌈

From dressing up as favourite characters to sharing stories, exploring new books and enjoying special reading moments together, it was a fantastic celebration of the joy that books bring.

Books inspire little minds, build language and communication skills, spark imagination and create a lifelong love of learning. ❤️📚

The children enjoyed a wonderful craft morning at Berowra Public School, where they met Mrs Fenton in the library for a special story and craft experience. After listening to a story together, the children engaged with the Kindergarten students to create butterflies, caterpillars, jewel paddle pop insects and snails as they explored a variety of craft and art materials around the tables.

Throughout the morning, the children connected with the older students, including children they remembered from their time at Goodstart and siblings who had previously attended our centre. It was lovely to see the children recognising familiar faces and building connections within their wider school community. Berowra Public School

Last week, the children had the opportunity to learn about gardening and replant some vegetables and flowers in our newly renovated Vegetable Garden. A huge thanks to Jenny and John (our Goodstart Berowra Grandparents) who led the children in digging, planting and watering.

Through this experience, the children develop an understanding of sustainability and the life cycle of plants while building practical gardening skills. Through digging, planting and watering, children strengthened their fine and gross motor skills, responsibility and teamwork, encouraging children to share knowledge, ask questions and develop a sense of belonging within their community. 🪴🪏🫜👩‍🌾

A Stronger Future for Our Children 🌱💙

We were delighted to welcome James Wallace MP - Hornsby, to our Early Learning Centre for an important and meaningful conversation about the upcoming Start Strong funding changes and what they could mean for our children, families, educators and early learning community.

This was a valuable opportunity to discuss the real-world impact of funding changes on access to quality early childhood education, curriculum and learning experiences, educator capacity, and the support we can provide to children and families.

At the heart of every conversation was what matters most. Ensuring every child has the opportunity to thrive, learn, belong and reach their full potential. ✨

Our educators work tirelessly to create enriching, play-based learning environments where children can develop confidence, curiosity, independence and a lifelong love of learning. Sustainable and equitable funding is fundamental to supporting this work and ensuring families can continue to access high-quality early learning.

We are incredibly grateful for the opportunity to share our perspective, advocate for our children and families, and contribute to an important conversation about the future of early childhood education.

Because investing in early learning means investing in our children, our families and the future of our community.

What an incredible day we had celebrating the Commonwealth Games with our wonderful children and families! Everyone came together at the oval for a morning filled with fun, laughter, teamwork and friendly competition.

Children and their families enjoyed a variety of exciting sporting activities, including soccer, running races, bean bag throws, ring toss, high jump and the always-popular egg and spoon challenge. It was fantastic to see everyone cheering each other on, building confidence and creating lasting memories together.

A huge thank you to all of our families for joining us and making the day such a wonderful success. The smiles, encouragement and community spirit on display made it a truly special event. We can't wait for our next celebration together! 💙💛💚❤️

📖 History of Goodstart Post

Henry’s Story,
Henry has come along to share his experience and time as a young and thriving child at Goodstart and how this has shaped his learning journey and future. Henry attended Goodstart between the years of 2014- 2016, along with his two siblings Tahnee and Jesse.
Henry remembers loving art and craft at Goodstart, playing outside and joining his peers in painting Van Gogh Sunflowers for their graduation gift. Henry recalls being friends with Tahnee, Jack and Ewan and that seeing and playing with his friends was what made him so happy to come to Goodstart each morning.
Henry dreams of being a Fisherman Guide, assisting professionals with their fishing trips!
A few special memories Henry will always remember about his Goodstart journey is his friends along the way, the time he got to bring Jesse (his brother) in for show and tell and being ready for school!

What an exciting day we had on our excursion to the Pamela Allen Exhibition at the State Library!

The children arrived full of excitement, ready for a special adventure. We caught the train into the city together and as we travelled, the children eagerly looked out the windows. They loved spotting the train station where some of them live and excitedly pointed out familiar places along the way. We also kept our eyes peeled for two of Sydney's most famous landmarks—the Sydney Harbour Bridge and the Sydney Opera House!

When we arrived at the State Library, it was time to explore the wonderful world of Pamela Allen. The children wandered through the colourful exhibition, enjoying the interactive displays and discovering the much-loved characters from her stories.

As we celebrate NAIDOC Week, the children explored a variety of engaging experiences that honoured Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures. They explored native plants and natural materials through creative artworks, cooking, play dough, practised weaving, danced to Indigenous music using tapping sticks and instruments, enjoyed bush tucker-inspired fishing in the sandpit, investigated sensory play with colours, animals and natural materials, and shared both Dream time stories and felt board stories together during group time. These experiences encouraged creativity, cultural awareness, collaboration and a deeper appreciation for Australia's First Nations peoples and their enduring connection to Country.

Our celebrations for NAIDOC Week began as we welcomed Elese from Girri Girra to share Aboriginal culture, traditions and knowledge with us. The children were immersed in learning, stories and music that celebrated the diversity of Australia's First Nations peoples while fostering respect, curiosity and a sense of belonging
Elese shared the Dreamtime Story of the Rainbow Serpent, using a snake it wound and slithered around the children creating the river, lakes and mountains we see within our country today. Elese spoke about how within the Aboriginal Culture they believe that when they see a rainbow in the sky it symbolises her moving through bodies of water. Girri Girra Aboriginal Experiences
