🔢 Pre-K Sequencing: 1–20 and A–Z 🔤

Our Pre-K children strengthened their early literacy and numeracy skills through hands-on sequencing experiences.

The children worked to place the numbers 1–20 and the letters A–Z into the correct order. They used number and letter recognition, memory, visual discrimination and problem-solving skills to identify what came before, what came next and which pieces were missing.

These experiences supported the children to:

* Recognise and name numbers and letters.
* Understand that numbers and the alphabet follow a consistent sequence.
* Recall and predict what comes next.
* Develop concentration, persistence and confidence.
* Share ideas and work collaboratively with their peers.

EYLF Learning Outcomes:

Outcome 4 – Children are confident and involved learners: Children used problem-solving, persistence and memory to complete each sequence.
Outcome 5 – Children are effective communicators: Children developed their understanding of symbols, patterns, letters and numbers as important forms of communication.

These playful learning experiences build strong foundations for reading, writing and mathematics while supporting a confident and positive transition to school. 🌟

🌼 Daffodil Day: Learning How Life Grows 🌼

To recognise Daffodil Day, our Koala Prep children explored the life cycle of a daffodil through discussion, observation, sequencing and drawing.

Together, the children investigated five stages:

🌱 Bulb
🌱 Sprout
🌿 Leaves and stem
🌼 Flower
🌾 Seeds and the next generation

As they illustrated each stage, the children used scientific language, shared their ideas and developed a deeper understanding of how living things grow and change over time.

This meaningful experience supported:

*EYLF Outcome 2:Developing respect and appreciation for the natural environment.
EYLF Outcome 4: Investigating, predicting, making connections and representing ideas.
EYLF Outcome 5: Using language and visual representations to communicate understanding.

Daffodil Day reminds us that even the smallest beginnings can grow into something strong and beautiful. Today, we celebrate learning, growth and hope for every family affected by cancer. 💛

🌈🔤 Colourful Letter Art – Koalas

The children decorated the first letter of their names using glue, sugar and food colouring. As the colours spread through the sugar, each letter transformed into a bright and unique artwork!

This sensory experience supported creativity, name recognition, concentration and fine motor development.

Magic Craig visited Meek's for a fun and interactive show filled with magic and laughter! The children learnt why our teeth are important, how to care for them and how healthy food choices help keep our smiles strong.

🌈 Colour Walking in the Joeys Room! 🧪

Our Joeys came together to investigate how coloured water can “walk” along paper towel and move between cups.

The children made predictions and watched closely as the colours travelled, met and changed, exploring colour mixing, cause and effect, and early scientific thinking through play! 🎨✨
