This week Y7 Geographers explored the landscape of Mount Keira. The Illawarra Education Centre led students through fieldwork activities that allowed students to gain a deeper appreciation of the escarpment.

Yew! Go Alice 👏👏👏👏

“Being able to hear everyone on the hill cheering you on… it’s a pretty special feeling.”

Especially when you’re surfing a final at your home break.

Sandon Point local Jed Ashton did it again today, going back to back in the Open Men’s and sending the hill into a frenzy every time he found a wave.

The crowd was behind him from the opening ho**er, and Jed held his nerve to claim another Australian title on the same stretch of coastline he calls home.

Milla Brown was just as impressive in the Open Women’s, surfing a smart and strategic final in a slow, tricky ocean. Her progressive forehand surfing had been one of the highlights all event, and she finished it with the Australian title.

Alice Hodgson made it three NSW titles for the day, edging a tight U21 Women’s final against Queensland.

“It could’ve gone either way,” Alice said.

After standing out all competition, Alice kept her composure when it mattered most and came away with the title.

The Blues were everywhere across the finals, with NSW surfers featuring on the podium in every division.

This year's theme is Symphony of Stories and the library will be running activities every lunch time for the week. Put your thinking caps on and start planning your costumes!

Grand Final Bound!

The journey continues with our Opens Boys team making their first-ever Peter Mulholland Cup Grand Final, to be played next Wednesday at Campbelltown Stadium.

They again did us proud by coming from behind to beat a strong Hunter team in the semi. We love everything about this team, no superstars, no egos, just a group of players that continually put the team first and find a way to fight for one another.

To achieve what they have done this year has been special. It’s been a team effort, with all the students at our school getting behind the team, as well as all our staff and parents.

We couldn’t have got to where we are without all of our sponsors who have helped drive this, and we can’t thank them enough. Special thanks to our Open Boys main sponsor, and Jack Scofield. Your sponsorship allows us to continually grow the program.

If you want to support kids from the Illawarra region, get down to Campbelltown on Wednesday and cheer them on. It will be a great game against a strong and talented team.
