Happy International Sign Language Day! 💛

At Berkeley Vale Community Preschool, we are committed to creating an inclusive environment where every child has a voice and every way of communicating is valued.

Sign language is one of the many ways we support communication, connection and belonging within our preschool community.

Today, our team (with a little help from one of our children) wanted to share a very special message…

Sometimes the best parts of our adventures into the community are the moments we never planned for ✨

A spontaneous conversation. A friendly face. A moment of connection.

These little encounters remind us of the magic that happens when we slow down, say hello and make space for our community. 💛

❤️📖 What does child safety actually feel like to a child?

It’s a question our team has spent more than 12 months exploring.

Through our Research & Discovery Book, we researched, reflected, connected theory to practice and challenged our thinking as we deeply unpacked the 10 Child Safe Standards; not only what they ask of us as educators, but what they look and feel like through the eyes of a child.

And from that journey came something incredibly special…

❤️ I Am Paramount: A Story About Me.

Created with our children, for our children, the book follows a child through their day at preschool, bringing the Child Safe Standards to life in a way young children can understand. Our children created the illustrations, placing their own voices, ideas and perspectives within its pages.

After more than a year of research, critical reflection and collaboration, we now get to hold the finished hardcover book in our hands. 🥹📖

It will become an intentional teaching resource shared with our children year after year, helping them know:

I have rights.
My voice matters.
I can speak up.
I deserve to feel safe.
I am paramount. ❤️

We are incredibly proud of what we have created, but even more proud of everything that sits behind it.

Because our learning didn’t stay in a Critical Reflection Book.

We placed it back into the hands of the children it was always meant to protect. ❤️

💜 BRAVEHEARTS DAY 2026 💜

Our preschool is full of superheroes today as we dress up for Bravehearts Day and raise funds to support the important work of Bravehearts! 🦸‍♀️🦸‍♂️💜

Beyond the capes and costumes is an important message; every child has the right to feel safe, be heard and know that their voice matters.

We’re so proud to stand together for child safety and help empower our children to be brave, confident and know they can always speak up. 💜

A huge thank you to our families for getting behind today and supporting such an important cause!

💙 A little blessing before a big day 💙

The sweetest little gesture from our Wellbeing Advocate, Kim, today. 🥹

On her day off, Kim popped into preschool to deliver a little blessing to each member of our team ahead of our Assessment & Rating visit tomorrow. A candle, tea, some little treasures and the most beautiful words.

Kim is also a Reiki practitioner, and we are so lucky to have someone who brings such genuine care, thoughtfulness and positive energy to our team. 💙

Tomorrow we go into our A&R visit with positive intentions, calm hearts and confidence in the work we do every single day.

Thank you, Kim. What a beautiful reminder that while we spend so much time caring for others, caring for each other matters too. 🥰✨
