Every family places an incredible amount of trust in us. Today was about continuing to honour that trust. ๐Ÿ’š

Today, our team dedicated the day to professional learning, strengthening the knowledge, skills and confidence that help us provide the safest possible environment for every child in our care.

We were privileged to welcome Tracey Yeomans Consultancy for our annual Child Protection Refresher Training, where we revisited our responsibilities as mandatory reporters and explored the new requirements around Inappropriate Conduct and Protected Disclosures.

Our educator Kim also shared key learnings from the Red Nose Safe Sleeping course she completed over the holidays, ensuring our team remains up to date with current safe sleeping practices and requirements.

To finish the day, Claudia from Survival Solutions Fire Safety Management led our Fire Warden and Fire Safety Training, equipping our team with the knowledge and confidence to respond effectively in an emergency.

We know that child safety isnโ€™t achieved through policies alone. It comes from a team committed to continually learning, reflecting and growing.

Many of you may have noticed the fresh new look of the Berkeley Vale Exchange building opposite Berkeley Vale Public School. Well, we were absolutely delighted when Telstra InfraCo reached out and asked if our preschoolers would like to help add the finishing touches!

Today, our children had the incredible opportunity to leave their mark by painting their handprints onto the completed mural, becoming part of a lasting piece of our local community.

What a special experience for our children, not only to express their creativity, but to contribute to something they can proudly visit for years to come. Watching each child carefully add their handprint was a beautiful reminder that even the smallest hands can make a big impact.

To make the project even more special, our educators and work experience students from Berkeley Vale Campus also added their handprints, creating a lasting reminder of everyone who came together to be part of this wonderful community project.

A huge thank you to Telstra InfraCo for inviting Berkeley Vale Community Preschool to be part of this incredible initiative and for recognising the important role children play in shaping and celebrating our community.

๐Ÿ–ค๐Ÿ’›โค๏ธ 50 Years of Deadly โค๏ธ๐Ÿ’›๐Ÿ–ค

This week, our preschool has been filled with rich conversations, curious minds and meaningful moments as we celebrated NAIDOC Week.

The children discovered that the word "deadly" is a celebration of strength, pride and excellence. They explored this year's inspiring NAIDOC artwork, Ancestral Lines (Paralpi) by Zaachariah Fielding, sharing conversations about Country, family, identity and the stories that connect generations.

Through music, we listened to Tjitji and learned that tjitji means "child" in the Aแน‰angu Pitjantjatjara Yankunytjatjara (APY) language, another beautiful reminder of the importance of preserving and celebrating First Nations languages.

These moments remind us that NAIDOC Week isn't just about learning facts. It's about listening, wondering, respecting and creating space for children to grow up with a genuine appreciation of the cultures, histories and voices of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.

As we celebrate 50 years of NAIDOC, we are proud to stand alongside this year's theme, "The Next Generation: Strength, Vision & Legacy," recognising that every conversation today helps shape a more respectful tomorrow.

๐Ÿ–ค๐Ÿ’›โค๏ธ Something extraordinary is coming to Berkeley Vale Community Preschool... โค๏ธ๐Ÿ’›๐Ÿ–ค

Imagine arriving at preschool and being welcomed by a breathtaking Aboriginal mural stretching across the entire length of our building.

A mural inspired by our children.

A mural shaped by our families and community.

A mural that will become part of Berkeley Vale Community Preschool's story for generations to come.

As we celebrate NAIDOC Week, we're proud to embrace this year's theme, "Next Generation: Strength, Vision & Legacy," by sharing some exciting news.

Berkeley Vale Community Preschool has been awarded a NAIDOC Grant through Aboriginal Affairs NSW to create a large-scale Aboriginal mural that will wrap across the entire length of our preschool building.

This project captures everything the NAIDOC Week theme represents. It recognises our children as the next generation, giving them the opportunity to share their ideas, learn from Aboriginal perspectives, and help create a lasting legacy that future children and families will experience for years to come.

We're incredibly honoured to be partnering with local Aboriginal artist Garry Purchase, whose work celebrates culture, storytelling and community. Over the coming months, Garry will listen to our children's ideas before inviting families, educators and the wider community to have a yarn and help shape a mural that is uniquely ours.

During the October school holidays, our preschool will be transformed as this incredible mural comes to life, before we celebrate its completion together at a special community unveiling in Term 4.

We are sincerely grateful to Aboriginal Affairs NSW for making this opportunity possible, and to Garry for sharing his knowledge, culture and creativity with our community.

Yesterday our preschoolers hopped on the bus for a very special adventure to The Art House Wyong to see Where is the Green Sheep? The excitement was contagious, and the children were completely captivated by the magic of live theatre! ๐Ÿ’š

We are incredibly grateful to Bendigo Bank Wyong & East Gosford for their generous support through the Magic of Theatre Program. By subsidising our tickets, they made this special experience accessible for our children and gave them the opportunity to experience the magic of live theatre.

Days like today inspire imagination, curiosity and lifelong memories. ๐ŸŒŸ

๐Ÿš‘โœจ Nee-naw, nee-naw! What an exciting day at preschool! โœจ๐Ÿš‘

Last Wednesday we welcomed Jay, one of our preschool dads and a paramedic, for a very special visit. The children had the opportunity to explore a real ambulance, hear the siren, learn when to call 000, and discover some of the equipment paramedics use to help people in emergencies.

From checking heart rates and blood pressure to learning how a broken arm might be treated, the children were curious, engaged and full of questions. Of course, climbing inside the ambulance was a definite highlight!

A huge thank you to Jay for sharing his time, knowledge and passion with us. We loved learning about the important role paramedics play in keeping our community safe. โค๏ธ๐Ÿš‘

Every handprint tells a story.

Together, they remind us that reconciliation is something we all contribute to.

As part of National Reconciliation Week 2026, our children created this beautiful banner surrounding our preschoolโ€™s Acknowledgement of Country.

Every handprint is different, yet together they create something powerful. Just as reconciliation requires all of us working together, each child, family, educator and community member contributes to the journey.

National Reconciliation Week may be ending, but our commitment continues. We remain All In as we continue learning, reflecting and walking alongside First Nations peoples with respect, curiosity and hope for the future.
