The Hypnobirthing Australia program is uniquely designed to encourage a positive birth experience. It does not focus on having a "natural" birth, but gives you knowledge and tools to calmy meet whatever turn your birthing takes. It will educate you about  childbirth, the options you have available for your birth, tools to help you manage and navigate all the sensations of birth and practical ways your birthing partner can help you throughout the entire process.

OK so your pregnant and on maternity leave....the audio chosen is just a bit of light humour to get you through, ha ha. 🤣😅 Remember to not get too bogged down in those final days and weeks trying to get the baby to come. Unfortunately there isn't a whole lot you can do about it. So settle in and *try* to embrace the wait.

Just a reminder to all the expectant mums out there. You got this.

Surrender.... always been my personal word for all 3 of my births. Release and let go. The sensations of labour can be intense. But they are physiologically functional. Your body is not being harmed from something happening to you, you are birthing and your body is working to bring your baby to you.

The tools in the Hypnobirthing Australia Positive Birth Program help your mind switch off. Help you release and let go and let your body do what it needs to do to bring your baby earthside.

"Since the subconscious mind is our driving force, we always do what our subconscious believes. Since it will believe anything it is told, we can reprogram it if we bypass the conscious mind and substitute new, constructive ideas for its existing negative ones." - The Art of Hypnosis

Hypnosis is actually quite a small part of hypnobirthing and is unfortunately often flopped off as a bit woo woo. Essentially, Hypnosis is just a state of consciousness that brings down that barrier between your conscious and subconscious mind. When we plant new ideas into the subconscious in this relaxed state we can start to rewire our belief systems. Doing some prepwork in the months leading up to birth by doing the affirmations and meditations provided in the program, can reprogram your brain to remove negative thoughts around childbirth that have bee put there by movies, stories you've heard and conversations you've had, and replace them with positive thoughts and a sense of calm and confidence.

Ah I can't get enough of this photos for so many reasons. Just spectacular!

Now, look at all that Vernix!!!! This white, cream like substance on newborn babies is the stuff of magic.

Vernix helps protect the skin while they are in the womb environment and surrounded by amniotic fluid. Also thought that swallowing vernix that if floating in the amniotic fluid helps mature the babies gut. While being born, Vernix can act as a natural lubricant to help baby down the birth path. Vernix is high in antioxidants and is naturally antimicrobial so helps keep baby safe from microbs and oxidative stress while being born. Once born it helps babies skin mature ready for its new life in air and is incredibly moisturising. It is also thought to help with temperature regulation and stop excessive water loss. It really is a miracle substance that the beauty industry would love to be able to replicate.

My advice definitely don't rub it off! Wait a few days to a week to bath baby and the vernix that inevitably ends up on you RUB.IT.IN like the most expensive syrum you own.

Still one of my favourite quotes. Your body is working hard to bring your baby. Depending on your physiology you will experience these sensations differently. Some find it completely painless! Some .....well not so much. BUT you can frame it differently in your mind. This is physiologically functional pain. This is not danger or damage this is BIRTH!

Surrender to the power of your body cause you CAN do it and your baby WILL be born.

*Birth Affirmation Alert*

Alot of women I speak to are fearful of the pain they will experience while giving birth. Its almost become cultural to fear birth. But we don't have to be pain free to feel good about our bith. With the right mental preparation we can move through the powerful sensations and feel postive and actually reduce to amount of pain we experience. Our body is working really hard to open our bodies to allow our baby to be born. But we are designed to do it. We are not being damaged, we are not in danger. Birth isn't happening TOO us, we are birthing. If we can appreciate and anticipate that, if we prepare our mind, have tools we can use and the right support we CAN do it.

You CAN do it.

People always worry when they watch birth videos and see this amazing part of the birth process. The babies head emerges slowly, sometimes after disapearing back inside their mother a few times. Once out it might sit there like this for a few contractions, even if underwater. People always always say 'omg are they okay?' 'is that safe?' 'Can they breathe'

The answer is YES! This is actually a really important part of the birthing process for a few reasons. 1. it gives the baby a chance to perform an important rotatation in the pelvis allowing the shoulders to come out at a more favourable angle. And 2. the thing you can see in this amazing video is the squeezing of the baby ensuring the fluid that fills their lungs is expelled and squeezed out meaning that this little baby will now be able to breathe air! The pressure changes experienced by the baby here also allow the fluid in their lungs to be rapidly absorbed into the bloodstream very quickly readying them for the air they are about to recieve. Remember they are still connected to the placenta and getting oxygen that way at this time.

Post-partum is not just the 6 week period after a birth. It doesn't just end when your get thay check up, or fit those cloths again.

Did you know: the uterus will never fully return to its original size after a pregnancy. Your hips will have widened and your feet will be larger. Your ribs will be flared or bunched up slightly and your waist might never be as small. Your body takes time to heal and replenish itself. For organs to move back into position and muscles to adjust once again.

So... go easy on yourself mumma. Dont feel the pressure to look the same as you did pre baby. Remember you grew another human! Your whole body adjusted and changed to accommodate that growing life. You are a miracle worker!!!! Love that new body of yours. Celebrate it. Praise it! Don't let society make you feel you are now less worthy cause you are MORE worthy!
