What a fantastic day for our Year 3 students at Rainforestation!πΏπͺ
Students enjoyed an action-packed excursion yesterday, learning about Indigenous culture with the incredible Pamagirri dancers, trying their hand at boomerang throwing, and exploring the rainforest aboard the famous Army Ducks.
The day was filled with hands-on learning, new experiences and plenty of fun as students discovered more about our local environment, history and culture.

In Prep to Year 2, we use the Get Reading Right program to help every child become a confident reader π
Students are explicitly taught how sounds (phonemes) connect with letters and letter patterns (graphemes). They learn to blend sounds together to read words and break words apart to help with spelling - all building strong early reading and writing skills step by step.
Through daily lessons and decodable texts, students have lots of opportunities to practise and apply what they are learning. This helps them grow in confidence as their word recognition, fluency and reading skills develop.
A strong foundation in phonics gives our students the skills they need to thrive in reading, writing and learning across all areas of the curriculum π

π Year 1 students had a fantastic time welcoming members of the Queensland Fire and Rescue Service for a fire safety education visit today.
Students learned important fire safety messages, including:
π₯ Get down low and go, go, go!
π₯ Get out and stay out.
π₯ Don't hide - scream and shout.
They also discussed the importance of having a family evacuation plan and a designated meeting point in case of an emergency.
Our firefighters have set some homework for students:
π Learn your home address in case you ever need to call Triple Zero (000).
π Check where the smoke alarms are in your house.
We look forward to welcoming the team back next week when students will have the opportunity to explore the fire truck and learn even more about the important work our firefighters do.

Writing is taught every day in every classroom through a consistent whole-school approach. π
We know writing is complex β it involves ideas, text structure, vocabulary, sentence structure and spelling all working together. Guided by the "Not So Simple View of Writing", we explicitly teach the key elements of strong writing so students learn how to write with confidence.
Writing is embedded throughout the day, from morning routines and fluency lessons to learning in HASS and Science, where students build the background knowledge that supports strong writing.
π Take a look at writing in action across our school!

Today we celebrate the beautiful example of community spirit shown by our Year 5 students.ποΈ
A group of students gave their time today to help clean and care for our church. Their quiet service, teamwork, and willingness to help reflect the simple but powerful message: βπππΎππ ππΎππππ ππ½πΎπππ ππΎππ½ ππππΆπ ππππ.β
Inspired by the Good Samaritan, they show that kindness is not about recognition, but about action - looking after others and the places that matter in our community.
