New Look 6095 is a great dress pattern. It's semi fitted with cap sleeves and bust darts for a better fit. Anietha made a test garment in calico (a toile) so we could fit the dress to flatter her and then alter the pattern. Anietha's completed dress in a Linen print fabric looks lovely on her.

This is Gerry, he started attending my classes in October 2017. Since then he has been working with two jacket patterns, one with a raglan sleeve and the other with set in sleeve. He loves to mix fabrics with different textures and colours. I contacted him today to confirm that he has made 45 Jackets, he has now moved on to pants.

This is one of my first sewing books, it was published in 1970 by The Hamlyn Publishing Group. I remember as a six year old being inspired by every page. Look at those hair styles, the rouge on the cheeks and the absence of the nose, very 70's. There are so many sewing projects in this book that are still relevant today. Please click on the Helpful Hints images below, the text is worth a read.

This is Mary displaying her latest projects. She has refashioned two of her hand sewn Merino knit garments. The brown top was originally a dress. Using the remnants from this alteration Mary redesigned the orange top adding cuffs and a frill. Mary now has two revamped garments to enjoy. Merino knit is one of my favourite fabrics, so it’s great to see that it was saved by Mary to be worn for another season.

This is really worth watching. Thanks Melissa for texting me about it. We are so lucky that we have the ability and the passion for sewing. We are able to alter a garment we have made (or purchased) and recreate it and wear it for another season.

The Red Cross, St Vincent de Paul and The Salvation Army are collaborating on a project called Moving the Needle. Hoping to change behaviour in every part of the fashion circle by involving government, industry and consumers.

After suspending my sewing classes I asked my students to send me images of their work to post on Facebook. This cloth doll was made with love by Annie for her granddaughters. The outfits were made using fabric scraps. Annie hand spun and dyed Alpaca wool to create the dolls hair. Annie's granddaughters will love her.
