(The "Dictators" will never stop making our people “Karen" suffer from death and away from our home. When we were in our hometown, there was always fear of losing someone we love in our minds. Our leaders and soldiers try their best to protect our country. We never lost hope fighting for our freedom, until now, some of us are still away from our home. It is called "Kawthoolei". Some of us live a good lifestyle, but some still live in a danger zone.
I would like to thank "UNHCR, Thailand and Australia" for giving us the opportunity to have new life and freedom. “You can close your eyes to reality, but not to your memory”. )

The BKYN will launch a digital storytelling project called "Our Australian Dream: Sharing with Love" during Refugee Week 2023, in accordance with the theme “Finding Freedom”. Through the power of storytelling, we hope to address and reduce discrimination and bias against people of refugee background, particularly the Karen people. Through the project, we also hope to empower and inspire individuals of refugee background to embrace their identity and be proud of who they are and their unique lived experiences.
This project is part of our ongoing storytelling project “our story is ours to tell” series. “Our Australian Dream: Sharing with love” is the sub series.
