GALS – Girls as Leaders in STEM
What an amazing night at our GALS event on Thursday!
Over the course of the term, Ruby, Isla, Maiya, Amity, Sophie and Lilith have worked together on a STEM project focused on solving a real-world problem.
They began by identifying an issue in our local community: rubbish entering Bendigo Creek. From there, they brainstormed possible solutions, selected their final idea, designed and built prototypes, and tested their designs.
Their final solution was a drain basket designed to sit inside drains and catch rubbish before it can enter the creek.
The girls showcased their work through an A0 poster, a slideshow and a presentation, with every girl confidently taking a speaking role.
They were absolutely amazing and represented White Hills Primary with such pride. We couldn’t be more proud of the teamwork, creativity, problem-solving and confidence they demonstrated.
Six future STEM innovators in the making!
Keep and eye out for their poster displayed in the Bendigo Library during the first week of the school holidays. We will then have their poster and prototypes displayed at school for everyone to enjoy.
