More than 3,000 staff from our 52 schools and Catholic Education Sandhurst Central Team gathered across the diocese for our 2026 Staff Spirituality Day.

It was a day for the head and the heart, grounded in our Cultural Covenant and our call to help every person live 'life to the full' (John 10:10).

Across each of our hubs, staff stepped away from the usual rhythm of the school day to pause, reflect and reconnect with our shared mission in Catholic education.

Our plenary speaker, Bishop Tim Norton SVD, Bishop of Broome, opened the day by reflecting on our Cultural Covenant and what it means to live life to the full. He reminded us that the journey is a shared one and challenged us to step beyond what is comfortable as we grow in faith, hope and authenticity.

Guest speaker Stan Grant invited us to consider identity, truth, compassion and our shared humanity, encouraging us to rediscover the value found in simplicity, silence and the ordinary moments of life.

Throughout the day, prayer, reflection and conversation created space to deepen relationships across schools, strengthen collegial connections and renew our commitment to the children and young people in our care.

We are grateful to the speakers, facilitators, clergy and host schools who helped create such a meaningful day across our diocese.

A day of great joy for the Diocese of Sandhurst.

Today, more than 1,000 people gathered at Sacred Heart Cathedral to witness the installation of Bishop René Ramirez RCJ as the ninth Bishop of Sandhurst.

Rich in tradition, the liturgy marked the beginning of Bishop René’s ministry among the people of our diocese.

We warmly welcome Bishop René RCJ and hold him in our prayers as he begins this new chapter of leadership and service.

A wonderful example of student voice in action and proof that small ideas, sustained over time, can create a lasting impact. Congratulations to every student who played a part in making it happen. 👏👏👏

🫀 From ZOOPER DOOPERS to a LIFESAVER!

It started with icy poles.

Back in 2021, a small group of students formed The Student Voice, with one simple idea, raise money to make a real difference at our college. Their first fundraiser? Selling zooper doopers, one at a time, until they'd raised around $700.

That group has changed a lot since then. In fact, our captain Lillian Richardson is the last original member still here, and what a legacy to carry!

When Student Voice handed the baton on, our Community Action Team (CAT) picked it up and ran with it. Zooper doopers turned into cinnamon donuts, then hotdogs, fundraiser after fundraiser, year after year. Add in proceeds from second-hand uniform sales, proudly organised by our VCE-VM students, the fund just kept growing.

Years of persistence. Hundreds of icy poles, donuts and sausages sold. Countless students giving their time and energy to a cause bigger than any one of them.

And last week, it all came together: our college now has a defibrillator. 💚

A lifesaving piece of equipment, funded entirely by the determination of our students. Proof that small efforts, sustained over time, can lead to something truly incredible.

To every student who ever sold a zooper dooper, cooked a hotdog, or donated a uniform, thank you. You helped save a life before it even happened.
