I have a HUGE collection of So Fresh cds, so when it came around for Week 1 of the Play-my way! Wellbeing Challenge, I thought I'd tap into that nostalgia and give them a re-listen (sort of...)
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Spotify have heaps of So Fresh playlists which I've been listening to this week (Winter 2000-2014 has been my favourite!).
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Wellbeing doesn't have to involve serious, structured activities. I was focussed only on the present as I belted out some of these songs that I momentarily forgot everything else for that day. Mindfulness, hey??!
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
So, what's you favourite So Fresh era?

I’m having some value and self-worth issues with social media at the moment.

Personally, part of me is yearning for the life I had before kids (flexibility, self indulgence, sleep lol). In a business sense, I’m trying to post and share frequently and keep the well-being voice in the teacher space.

Despite having my notifications off, I check my phone and socials constantly. The last month or so, I’ve also been opening socials first thing in the morning, which is scary.

unpacks his experiences with his ‘smugphone’ on the and it sounds like it might be time for a relisten.

It’s starting to become a habit and one is like to break.

So it seems ironic to post this on social media. I thought someone, somewhere might also have some experiences with this and might be able to drop some wisdom my way…

I’m not sure I’d call myself a leader, but I feel like this is the essence of what I do and why .teacher.collection lights me up.

Unlocking strengths.
Building capacity.
Supporting teachers.

We’ve SOLD OUT of our Beyond the Classroom Journals, but the good news is, we’re re-working a new editing, ready for 2024. Stay tuned…

Gosh a little person can test and shift priorities. Plans can quickly change, meetings and chats shifted and lists remain uncrossed for longer than I’d like.

Instead of setting the same expectations of myself, lots of pivoting and reassessing has finally made me feel comfortable and okay with not being able to ‘do what I used to do’.

I feel like a little person really makes you think about your values and reflect on how you invest in your values. I have limited time to give now, and I’m very conscious on how I use this and where I direct my energy.

Soooooo if you’re waiting on an email, a conversation, a chit chat or anything else from me, I see you, and I’m getting there. This is where my headspace is now (and I’m learning to love it!! 💕💕) and I thank you for your patience!!!

☕️ At our favourite (an enclosed outdoor space is our new priority 🤣)

An ongoing challenge in schools is consistence and predictability, especially when us teachers are running flat out behind the scenes. There always seems to be something new or a last minute event/incursion popping up each week.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
We use our social stories, pre-warning and 1:1 conversations with our kids, but these are not appropriate for staff [a staff of 75 having 1:1 convos won't work!].
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Routine and predictability is important for staff too. We cannot control all that happens within our schools and there needs to be some flexibility from staff, but there are some things can do:
•Provide agendas for meetings and planning days well in advance.
•Work planning days to the usual school day
•Provide opportunity for a break after information-intensive periods
•Give templates and examples

I feel like this needs a more permanent position not just on the grid, but in schools, universities and classrooms.

We bring our own experiences and strengths to the classroom, just like our kids do. There’s things we are good at, and things that challenge us.

Growth, however that looks, instead of perfection.

Find your people and hold them close. 💫

A Moment for Teachers coming soon…

Gratitude is so much more than journalling and notes. It's a deeper appreciation for what's around us, and in our case, our colleagues.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
When we express our empathy and gratitude towards others, we create a moment of vulnerability that leaves space for connection.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
We can do this so simply: listening and appreciating. When our colleagues are chatting with us, being fully present in the conversation shows then we value them.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Sharing our thanks for their effort, time or expertise [use these sentence starters!] seems simple, but often we overlook its importance and value.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
So the next time a colleague prepares notes, photocopies additional sheets, adds to the planner or supports you in another way, use one of these sentence starters to thank them!
