Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Day 4/8/2026

We planted a Midyim Berry plant in our Bush Tucker Garden that was kindly donated by AEL (Access to Early Learning)
Rachel from Allied Health Bendigo joined us and shared the beautiful story Little Bird's Day by Sally Morgan and Johnny Warrkatja Malibirr
Children decorated a snake using natural materials
We also decorated cupcakes to celebrate the importance of this special day

This week we celebrated Early Learning Matters Week by recognising that every child is valued, capable and important
Children created beautiful portraits of their friends, and together we made a canvas for display as a reminder that everyone belongs and every child matters

Dental Week
We explored the importance of caring for our teeth through play and hand on learning
Children enjoyed our imaginative play dentist clinic, where they brushed the teeth of our dolls and pretend teeth and took on the role of a dentist
We read The Teeth Big Book and discussed healthy and sometimes foods , finishing our afternoon with making freshly squeezed orange juice that we shared at afternoon tea

What began as a simple conversation about strawberries at morning snack time blossomed into a two-week learning project
Together, we explored strawberry anatomy, created individual observational drawings and worked collaboratively to create a giant strawberry, adding the achenes and colour by sponge painting
Its a wonderful reminder that from little things, big things grow and that children's curiosity can lead to rich and meaningful learning

We extended our strawberry exploration with some special hands on activities , including making some delicious strawberry jam
Children enjoyed helping prepare the strawberries , and once cooked they spooned the finished jam into jars.
We enjoyed tasting the jam for afternoon tea

All staff will be attending a Professional Development Day on Thursday 13th August , there will be NO PRESCHOOL for Peppercorn Group on this day

Strawberry Investigation !🍓🍓🍓
Children showed great curiosity during our strawberry investigation, Conversation sparked about the seeds plant cycle and predictions were made about what will happen next
We gathered the strawberry tops from our breakfast and put them in soil
We will continue to observe the strawberries overtime and discuss any changes
