Today our environment invited children to slow down, wonder and explore through their senses. 👀👃👐

From creating beautiful sun catchers using natural resources to discovering the colour, texture and fresh citrus scent of home-grown lemons lovingly brought in by Renee 🍋✨, children were encouraged to investigate, create and follow their own curiosities.

Through these simple encounters with nature, children are building connections with their environment and discovering that there is wonder all around us. 🌱💛

💧 Water Play Day
Get ready to splash, explore and cool down! Please bring sun-safe water clothing, a hat and a change of clothes.

🤪 Crazy Hair Day
Let your creativity run wild! Come along with your craziest hairstyle — think colours, clips, braids, spikes and anything wonderfully wild! 🌈💇‍♀️

🎭 Dress-Up Day
Come dressed as your favourite person, character, job, or simply your favourite colours! We can’t wait to see where everyone’s imagination takes them. ✨

🔬 Science & Discovery
Our little scientists will be exploring through Question → Predict → Investigate → Observe → Reflect → Share → Wonder again. We’ll be wondering, testing, discovering and revisiting our ideas as we learn more about the world around us. 🧪🔎

🧸🎬 Pyjama & Movie Day
We’ll finish our holiday program with a relaxing day in our comfiest PJs! 💤

👧 Younger children will enjoy an episode of Play School.

👦 Older children will watch Inside Out as we explore emotions, feelings and the many ways we experience and express them in a fun and meaningful way. 💭❤️

🎬 Inside Out is rated PG for mild thematic elements and some action. There is no adult themes, nudity or profanity, although there are a few mild insults. There are some moments of cartoon peril and emotionally heavier themes, including an imaginary friend fading away and some brief potentially startling scenes.*

If you feel the PG rating isn’t appropriate for your child, please let us know. We are more than happy to include them in the Play School group instead. 💛

☀️Fun in the Sun on Sports Colours Day!☀️

What a beautiful morning of wonder, exploration and connection! 🌿✨

Our environment invited children to slow down, investigate and follow their curiosity — creating with playdough in the cool shade, experimenting with water💧and discovering the textures, sounds and movement of corn kernels 🌽.

Through open-ended sensory experiences, children were encouraged to make their own choices, share ideas, test theories and engage with the world around them.

A morning filled with sunshine, possibility and those beautiful moments of discovery that remind us — children are capable, curious and full of wonder. 💛🌈

Learning Through Real-Life Experiences

🚨 Emergency preparedness is more than a drill — it’s about building confidence, knowledge and the ability to respond when something unexpected happens.

At White Hills, we believe children should be active participants in emergency drills and first aid learning. Giving children the opportunity to practise these skills helps them develop confidence in managing situations they may not encounter in everyday life.

Today, we saw that learning come to life. ❤️

While playing, shoes had been left on the floor and one of our educators unfortunately had a fall. 😉 Our children immediately recognised that help was needed and knew to call another educator. Together, the educator and children assessed the situation and, once the educator was safely moved to a comfortable chair, the children put their newly developed first aid knowledge into practice.

They discussed that a compress could be used to help slow bleeding — and, importantly, that pressure needed to be applied.

The children confidently took on different roles, working together to hold the pressure compress and apply the crepe bandage. They takes about how the bandage needed to be flat and cover the injured area.

What an incredible effort! 👏

This was such a wonderful reminder that children are capable, thoughtful and resourceful when we give them meaningful opportunities to learn and practise.

🌟 Drills aren't just about preparing for emergencies — they're about building capable, confident children who know what they can do when something unexpected happens.

We are so proud of our little first aiders! ❤️

🌿✨ Come Visit Our Listening Tree Yard ✨🌿

A beautiful space where children can slow down, connect with Country, and discover the world through their senses. 🌱🍂

Here, learning happens through curiosity, wonder and hands-on exploration. Children can dig in the garden, nurture growing things, practise outdoor skills in a supported environment, and engage with the natural world around them. 🌻🪴

And, of course, no visit to the Listening Tree Yard would be complete without a little mud kitchen magic! 🪵🥄🌿 From bubbling potions to mysterious concoctions, the possibilities are endless when imagination takes the lead. 🧪✨

We see this space as an extension of our learning environment — a place where children can connect, create, investigate and make meaning through play. 💚

🌿🎨 The Language of Materials 🎨🌿

Today, we created an open-ended invitation for children to explore the possibilities of natural materials, paint, brushes and recycled cardboard.

Large boxes became our canvas, offering space for children to experiment, make marks, layer textures and explore colour in their own way. 📦🖌️🌱

Rather than focusing on a finished product, we value the process of discovery — the questions, choices, connections and ideas that emerge as children engage with the materials.

Through this provocation, children are encouraged to lead their own learning, use their creativity and discover that there are many ways to communicate and express their thinking. ✨

Our environment becomes another educator, inviting curiosity, collaboration and a sense of wonder. 💚
