Ballet Academy Northside (Dance B.A.N.) is one of the longest established dance schools on the northern beaches, located in the Frenchs Forest, Belrose, Terry Hills and St Ives area.We offer the highest standard of traditional education in Classical Ballet from the Royal Academy of Dance and innovative Open Ballet Classes & Contemporary training, Jazz Dance, Lyrical Dance,

Acrobatics, Musical Theatre & Drama, Flamenco, Pre School Dance, Pilates and Progressing Ballet Technique. We value the importance of nurturing the growth and development of each individual dancer, whilst guiding and encouraging enjoyment and creativity in dance.

We are delighted to congratulate Ava on her wonderful results at the Encore Dance Challenge.

It is with the deepest sadness that we acknowledge the passing of the beautiful Jenny Ham, founder of Ballet Academy Northside and a truly extraordinary woman whose influence has touched generations of dancers and families.

Jenny’s contribution to ballet was immeasurable. She was a teacher, mentor, choreographer, inspiration and, most importantly, a devoted “Ballet Mum” to thousands of young dancers throughout her remarkable life.

Jenny was awarded a prestigious scholarship to the Royal Ballet, and in 1969, around 35 years after the first Australian achieved this honour, she became the second Australian to win the prestigious Genee Gold Medal in London, now known as the Margot Fonteyn International Ballet Competition.

Gregor and I feel incredibly privileged to have been the owners of BAN since 2013 and to have continued the legacy of a school that Jenny built with such passion, dedication and love. In 2019, we were honoured to celebrate 30 years of BAN alongside Jenny - a very special milestone that we will always treasure.

Jenny’s legacy lives on in every dancer she taught, every teacher she mentored, every performance she choreographed and every family whose life she touched.

Our deepest condolences and love go to Jenny’s family at this incredibly difficult time.

Thank you, Jenny, for everything you gave to ballet, to BAN and to the countless young people whose lives you changed.

Your legacy will live on forever. 🤍🕊️

We are delighted to congratulate Chiara on her wonderful results at the EBSDN Eisteddfod (.aus) over the weekend.

Competing in the Under 14s, Chiara was awarded:

🥇 1st place — Lyrical
🥇 1st place — Contemporary
🥈 2nd place — Classical
🏆 Platinum Technical Title

We are so proud of Chiara, whose artistry and technical strength shone across all three genres.

What an incredible weekend!
The Adventures of Alice was a magical celebration of creativity, storytelling and the extraordinary talent of our BAN and SCD students.

We are so incredibly proud of every young artist who took to the stage, bringing this whimsical world to life with beautiful artistry, vibrant characterisation and joyful performances.

A heartfelt thank you to our outstanding teachers, staff and production team - Eve, Bella, Jodie, Ella, Judy, Suzie, and Mel for your endless dedication, care and creativity! Together, you create an environment where every student feels supported, encouraged and inspired.

Special thanks to Willow for doing a fantastic job as our sound technician, Katie Formston for her wonderful support with costumes, Pat for his generous help packing the truck after the show and to Sophia for her fantastic help all day!

We are incredibly grateful to Kim Peade, who has been lighting our productions beautifully for over 14 years. Kim, your expertise, creativity and unwavering support have been an invaluable part of the BAN family. Thank you for helping bring our productions to life year after year.

To our families, volunteers and audiences, thank you for your ongoing support and for the wonderful feedback you have shared. Your encouragement means so much to our students and our team.

🌟 Outstanding Results for Chiara! 🌟

Chiara competed at the Platinum Dance Competition in Kiama on Saturday, achieving exceptional results in the 15 Years & Over section:

✨ 1st Place – Classical Ballet
✨ 1st Place – Lyrical
✨ 1st Place – Commercial Contemporary
✨ 2nd Place – Traditional Contemporary

In addition, Chiara was awarded the Outstanding Technique Award for her age group — a wonderful recognition of her strength, precision, and artistry.
