Once upon a Book Week...

This year’s ‘Symphony of Stories’ theme for Book Week 2026 struck a joyful note across Scots. It was a colourful week of reading, creativity and imagination, culminating in the much-loved Book Week Character Parade last Friday.

Across Bellevue Hill and Brighton Preparatory School, students stepped into the world of their favourite stories with clever costumes, big imaginations and plenty of enthusiasm.

A wonderful celebration of the stories that inspire us, stay with us and open the door to new worlds.

Last Friday evening, it was a celebration of tradition, music and community at this year's Burns Supper.

The evening featured performances from members of the Pipes and Drums A and B Bands, with Augustus Sevil Jnr (’25) serving as ceremonial piper for the evening. Guests then enjoyed a three-course dinner before taking part in a successful silent auction.

The auction raised valuable funds to support the College’s growing Pipes and Drums program, including maintaining instruments, equipment, uniforms and touring resources, as the program continues to grow and give back to the wider community.

The evening concluded in fitting Scots tradition, with guests joining hands to sing Auld Lang Syne together.

Year 12 student Daniel Cox is representing Australia in Sweden at the international Stockholm Junior Water Prize competition, held during World Water Week from Sunday 23 August to Thursday 27 August.

Daniel’s project, SunRays Aqua – a solar-thermal system designed to control invasive aquatic weeds without herbicides – won the Australian Stockholm Junior Water Prize earlier this year.

He also recently presented at the Australian Water Association NSW State Conference 2026 as the only high school student speaker. While in Sweden, he has been selected as the sole youth representative on a panel of world-leading water experts, giving him another opportunity to share his ideas on addressing global water challenges.

What a remarkable achievement and a proud moment for the College.

Congratulations to the Middle School and Senior School Snowsports team for securing the College’s 23rd State Championship title at the 2026 NSW State Interschools Snowsport Championship in Perisher last week.

Despite a challenging week of difficult snow and weather conditions, along with the cancellation of several events, the team showed tremendous resilience, determination and community spirit throughout the competition.

The boys also achieved seven Gold medals, with many teams qualifying for the National Championships, where Scots will look to defend the title.

A fantastic achievement and a proud reflection of the strength of the Scots Snowsports community.

Congratulations to our Cross Country and Volleyball boys for winning their AAGPS Premierships!

On Thursday 20 August, the Middle School and Senior School came together in the Quadrangle to celebrate the Cross Country team and 1sts and 2nds Volleyball teams for their incredible achievement.

The result marks three Premierships from the eight available to the College this season. An exceptional achievement and the first time in about 30 years that Scots has secured three Winter Premierships in a season.

For Cross Country, the success is especially significant, with the team claiming its third consecutive AAGPS Premiership.

These achievements reflect the dedication of Scots boys and staff, the support of the wider College community and a strong culture of Leadership Through Teams. Well done boys!

Two Year 12 boys took on an incredible challenge at Perisher on Thursday 20 August, completing a full cross-country ski marathon to raise funds for the Ovarian Cancer Research Foundation.

The cause is especially meaningful to both boys, who have each lost a grandmother to ovarian cancer. Determined to turn that experience into something positive, they set themselves a fundraising goal of $5,000.

From the generosity of family, friends and supporters, so far they have raised $6,798 – exceeding their target by more than $1,000.

A wonderful effort from the boys, combining determination, compassion and community spirit in support of an important cause. Well done boys!

Year 8 Geography students headed to Warragamba Dam on Wednesday 19 August to study Sydney’s water catchments.

The excursion combined classroom-based learning with a guided tour offering access to areas beyond the usual visitor experience, giving students a closer look at the dam’s infrastructure.

Throughout the day, the boys demonstrated curiosity, adventure and commitment as they explored Sydney’s water storage facility.

The 100 Days of Kindergarten celebrations continued with another wonderful milestone moment at Bellevue Hill.

The boys brought in collections of 100 items to share, explored the number through fun activities and reflected on what 100 days mean to them: 100 days of learning, 100 days of fun and 100 days of play.

A special way to celebrate just how much the boys have grown, discovered and had fun along the way. Congratulations to Kindergarten on 100 fantastic days!
