Following the House Athletics Carnival recently, the fastest eight boys and eight girls were invited to complete in the annual ‘Head’s Dash’, a 100-metre sprint on Hordern Oval.

This year’s event was particularly memorable as we welcomed Cranbrook girls to the Head’s Dash for the first time. Supported by the rapturous applause, encouragement and House spirit from the Cranbrook community, our finalists gave it their all on the track.

Congratulations to our 2026 Head’s Dash Champions, Phoenix J (Year 12) and Emmeline H (Year 7)!

Our Year 11 and 12 IB Japanese ab initio students recently took part in an immersive Japanese cultural incursion, exploring language, culture and traditions beyond the classroom.

Through hands-on furoshiki and calligraphy workshops and a traditional bento lunch, students explored Japanese history, artistic traditions and cultural practices while connecting their learning to key IB themes, including Human Ingenuity and Sharing the Planet.

The experience gave Year 12 students an opportunity to consolidate learning ahead of their final Individual Oral assessment, while providing Year 11 students with valuable cultural and linguistic experiences to draw on in future studies.

The Cranbrook community extends its warmest congratulations to Max A (Year 11) who has received a Youth Community Service Award from Her Excellency the Honourable Margaret Beazley AC KC, Governor of New South Wales, in recognition of his outstanding contribution to the community.

Max has demonstrated an exceptional commitment to service through initiatives supporting homelessness, mental health, education and community wellbeing. From preparing and distributing meals to people experiencing homelessness in Sydney's CBD to leading school-wide service and fundraising initiatives, he has consistently sought opportunities to make a meaningful difference in the lives of others.

We commend Max on his exemplary leadership and the positive impact he continues to make within and beyond the Cranbrook community.

It was an outstanding week for Cranbrook Snowsports at the 2026 State Interschools Snowsport Championships, with 43 students competing across eight disciplines and delivering exceptional results despite challenging and unpredictable conditions.

Cranbrook finished the Championships with two gold, three silver and two bronze medals, alongside 33 top 20 individual finishes. The Division 4 Cross Country team led the way, claiming gold in both the Classic and Relay events, while 33 students secured qualification for the National Championships.

The Championships also marked a significant milestone for the programme, with Lila S (Year 11) becoming the first Cranbrook girl to qualify for Nationals in Division 1 Alpine.

The Cranbrook community congratulates all competitors on a Championship defined by resilience, teamwork and excellence, and wishes our National qualifiers every success at Perisher later this season.

We are delighted to celebrate a series of outstanding achievements across our co-curricular and sporting programmes.

Our robotics students competed at the VEX V5 Challenge recently, with three of six Cranbrook teams reaching the finals. A special congratulations to Chloe Z (Year 7), Max H (Year 7) and Alastair T (Year 7), who received the Judges Award in recognition of their innovative design thinking, meticulous engineering notebook and exceptional teamwork.

Our First IV Chess team also competed in the Grand Final of the NSW Junior Chess League and we congratulate Will W (Year 12), Will H (Year 12), Rupert R (Year 11) and Thomas DV (Year 11) on their commendable performance.

Year 12 Charlie M recently represented Australia at the 2026 FEI World Championships in Aachen, Germany, delivering an outstanding performance against world-class competition, while Year 10 Stirling M has been selected to represent Australia at the 2026 Youth Olympic Games in Dakar, Senegal, where he will compete on the international stage in the Men's Windsurfing event.

We congratulate each of these students on their remarkable achievements, which reflect the talent, dedication and ambition that continue to distinguish Cranbrook students across a diverse range of pursuits.

This week, we held our annual OCA Careers Evening 2026 for Year 11 and 12 students.

Our students gained firsthand insights into career pathways, professional experiences and the many opportunities that await them beyond the school gates, through conversations with more than 80 industry professionals working across a diverse range of sectors, including technology, engineering, law, science, property, medicine, finance, architecture and design, journalism and entrepreneurship.

A special highlight was a keynote from Old Cranbrookian and entrepreneur, Jonathan Barouch (OC 2000), who offered valuable insights into innovation, leadership and the opportunities that can emerge from pursuing one's passions.

We are grateful to the Old Cranbrookians and the many industry professionals who generously contributed their time, experience and insights to the careers evening.

We are delighted to invite you to a special Dinner in London with Dr Anne Johnstone, Head of School. This year's gathering promises to be a wonderful occasion, bringing together Old Cranbrookians for an evening of camaraderie, connection and celebration.

We are thrilled to welcome Kip Williams (OC 2004), Young Old Cranbrookian of the Year 2026 and the Tony Award-nominated director behind The Picture of Dorian Gray, as a special guest for the evening. The MC for the evening will be Martin Cayzer (OC 1988), President of the Old Cranbrookians' Association.

This weekend saw a series of outstanding and historic achievements from our inaugural Girls teams in the ISA Grand Finals. These remarkable results build on the success of our Boys' Winter Sports campaigns.

The Senior 1sts Netball team made history by claiming the Division 2 premiership and securing Cranbrook's first-ever Girls Netball ISA trophy. The Junior B Netball team also secured a one-goal victory in an extra-time thriller to win the premiership. Our Junior A Netball team likewise enjoyed a highly successful season, reaching the Division 1 Grand Final and proving themselves among the strongest teams in ISA competition.

In Football, our Senior Girls Football team achieved a 5-1 victory to finish the season as Premiers, while our Junior A Girls Football team completed the season undefeated, securing the premiership with a hard-fought and tense penalty shootout victory in the Grand Final.

In a poignant moment of reflection, our inaugural Girls Teams credited their success this season to their strong sense of belonging at Cranbrook and the meaningful connections they have built with one another and the wider school community.

We congratulate our students and Cranbrook’s Sports department on an exceptional winter season and look forward with great excitement to the opportunities and successes that the summer season will bring.

The House Athletics Carnival brought the Senior School together for a day of enthusiastic competition, House pride and community spirit.

Despite persistent rain throughout the day, the boys and girls refused to let the weather dampen their spirits! Whether competing on the track, taking on field events or cheering from the sidelines, the carnival highlighted the character and camaraderie that are such an important part of the Cranbrook experience.

Well done to our 14 Houses for their outstanding sportsmanship and congratulations to Chelmsford House on winning the House Athletics Carnival 2026.

Then and Now. Six years ago, the Vicars Centenary Building was under construction. Today, it is a vital part of campus life, bringing together learning, creativity, community and connection. The building is home to state-of-the-art learning, performance and community spaces. Innovative classrooms, collaborative study areas and outdoor learning terraces support teaching and learning, while the School Chapel provides a place for reflection and worship.

The building also houses the 275-seat Packer Theatre, drama and music rehearsal spaces, communal dining and gathering areas, and the Vicars Centenary Hall, where the wider Cranbrook community comes together for assemblies, celebrations and significant School events.

As the buildings on this site have evolved, so too have the opportunities they create for students, continuing to shape the diverse experiences and distinctive, vibrant life that defines Cranbrook.
