We have had a beautiful last week of term working with the wonderful Student Leaders from the North West Deputy Cluster✨

Together, we spent the day exploring what it means to be a Connected Leader, claiming our strengths and discovering how spending time in nature can help us grow our skills and wellbeing.

We were so impressed by this enthusiastic and thoughtful group of students and know that their schools are in very good hands with these amazing young people leading the way! 🙌

We love receiving feedback from our visiting schools and teachers; it warms our heart to hear how our programs continue to impact students long after their visit.
A huge thank you to one of the year five teachers at Ironside State School, Brett Perrier, for his kind words. We adore working with the 'Bush Kids' from Ironside, and it's exciting to see that they love joining us too! ✨🐦

"The ‘Hoodwinked’ program at the Pullenvale Environmental Education Centre was one of the most engaging and memorable learning experiences my Year 5 students have participated in this year. The immersive storytelling, problem-solving and authentic historical context transformed history from something students simply learned about into something they experienced. Every student was actively involved, and the level of engagement throughout the day was exceptional.

The impact extended well beyond the excursion itself. Students returned to the classroom enthusiastic to discuss the events, characters, and historical concepts they had encountered, providing a rich foundation for our subsequent learning.

Working with the PEEC team has also reinforced the value of slowing down, encouraging curiosity, and creating opportunities for students to develop a deeper connection with both history and the natural environment. The emphasis on attentiveness and immersive learning is something I will continue to incorporate into my own teaching practice, as it fosters genuine inquiry, collaboration, and engagement."

I spy with my little eye...another pair of eyes watching us👀

One of the amazing 'Wildlife Investigators' from Mitchelton State School reminded us of the importance of looking up when she spotted this incredible Powerful Owl! It was very interested in watching us as we explored through the forest, learning about habitats and the animals who might live there.

We recently had the privilege of working with the Nature Play Ambassadors from Fig Tree Pocket State School to grow their skills as advocates for nature play. Over two days, here at PEEC and at their school, we looked at different leading styles, the benefits of nature play and fun ways to engage with the environment!

We had so much fun working with these passionate leaders and loved hearing about what nature play means to them. We can't wait to see what they get up to next in their beautiful nature play area🥰

We always love working with our year six students at the beautiful Karawatha forest, but this year has felt particularly special as we’ve been doing something very exciting…planting trees! 🌱

Every class who has joined us as we ‘Wander the Way of the Water’ has planted a native species, totalling 21 new trees this term. Our students have loved engaging with this activity, commenting on how special it is knowing that their tree will contribute to the beautiful habitat, creating more food and shelter for the native wildlife.

We want to say a huge thank you to the wonderful Bernice Volz, Karawatha Forest Protection Society Inc and Brisbane City Council for helping us make this possible 🩷

And of course, another huge thank you to the amazing schools who have joined us for this program this year Ferny Grove State School Greenbank State School Mitchelton State School Moggill State School Bethania Lutheran School Pullenvale State School
