Some thirty-five years ago Neil Finch founded what would become Australia’s leading native orchid nursery. With humble beginings the orchid community witnessed the birthing of hybrids that would change the DNA of Aussie natives forever. More recently Phena and Brian Gerhard have owned Down Under Native Orchids. Under their guidance saw DUNO branch out into the New Zealand and USA markets as well a

s continuing the themes of Neil’s’ previous work along with plenty of new lines. Phena and Brian over the fifteen years at DUNO have created some of the best-known Australian native orchids to date with countless awards, registrations and achievements. After Brian’s passing in 2015 after a long battle with Melanoma the historical collection of the DUNO breeding and show stock needed a new home. Elermore Orchids owners Callyn Farrell and Grahame Young were very closely linked to Phena and Brian by friendship and so in 2015 we see Down Under Native Orchids become the sister nursery of Elermore Orchids. The stud collection of awarded plants and trusted breeders will now be combined with their already established and well known Australasian collection.
