Can You Help Pass the Baton?

No one knows what makes BHCS truly great better than the people who once walked these halls. You’ve experienced the community, the spirit, and the opportunities firsthand, and now we’re asking for your help to pass that legacy on to the next generation of potential students.

If you know a friend, neighbor, or colleague currently searching for a Secondary school where their child will truly thrive, we invite you to share the news about our upcoming Secondary Twilight Tour taking place next Thursday, 19 March.

With tours running every 10 minutes from 4:10pm through to 6:00pm, it is a beautiful way for new families to see the campus as the sun sets and meet the dedicated teachers and experience the school firsthand.

Join us for the BHCS Alumni Reunion - Classes of 2018 & 2019

We’re excited to invite you to a casual pizza dinner at the BHCS Restaurant on November 29, from 6:30 to 8:30pm. This is a wonderful opportunity to reconnect with old friends, share stories, and enjoy a fun evening together. We warmly welcome partners to join us—bring your significant other and make it a special night out as we celebrate our amazing 2018 and 2019 graduates.

| 2012 Lads and Dads Nights |

Family has always been important to BHCS, and the opportunity to get together with your own children to enjoy a night together was always very special. Lads and Dads nights were one of those opportunities. There was the football themed night, where all sorts of footy fun was had, including everyone having their own uniquely designed footy card. There were plenty of pies to eat, and dads trying to show that they still had the skills to compete at the highest level (while trying not to pull a hammy). On another occasion the theme was cooking outdoors in a fire pit, and racing billy carts. To see dads sharing what it means to be a young man with their lads was always a highlight.

Another fantastic memory as part of our 40 Stories for 40 Years!

The time when we thought all the things we could think!

As the prelude music began swirling around the audience sitting in the brand-new seats of Burrinja Theatre, nervous excitement generated in the wings as students involved in BHCS’s first full-scale musical, Seussical, waited for the curtain call.

We were only the second school to use the theatre back in 2011, and looking around backstage, I could see the months of hard work, passion, dedication and talent culminating towards this moment – opening night!

Opening night, and our whole first season, was a huge success. With a 17 -piece orchestra, 85 student cast from Years 4–12 and three sold out audiences, the feedback from our community raved about the talent and quality of our first musical.

The time when the Olympic torch visited us!

Way back in 2000, Olympics Day was memorable! Allen Crawley, an Australian Olympian at Mexico City competing in the long jump and relay, was our guest. Allen was invited to carry the torch in the relay through the streets of Melbourne, on its journey to Sydney where the Games were to be held. He brought the torch with him and every child got to hold it and had their photo taken with him.
Following our assembly, where Allen spoke, events were held in true Olympic spirit and Allen enjoyed the day so much that he stayed until well after the school bell had rung to go home.

The time when we worked together on a Saturday!

Our school community has a history of coming together to achieve something great for our school. This is exactly what happened in November of 2015. We had just completed the construction of the new school office and Discovery Centre. The building looked great but the grounds surrounding it still looked like a construction site.
What a great day it was having so many families come to school on a Saturday morning. Everyone was allocated a task, handed a gardening implement, and was set to work to transform the area.
It was a lovely time of work and laughter, and it wouldn't have been BHCS if we didn't have plenty of food to share and enjoy!

The time when we baked biscuits!

In 2009, the Black Saturday fires burned for a number of days and spread to areas within Upwey, Tecoma, Belgrave Heights, Belgrave South and Lysterfield, threatening homes and buildings. A fire in Upwey started around 2.30pm (AEDT) and spread through the Birdsland Reserve, pushed along by a north-westerly wind. Plumes of dark smoke were seen from the Belgrave Heights Christian School grounds, and at 3:00pm the students were evacuated and parts of Birdsland were destroyed.
With compassion for the Black Saturday fire victims, BHCS Food and Technology teacher, Nowell Abraham, enlisted the support of a group of Year 10 students to bake more than 700 biscuits for the Whittlesea bushfire relief centre. Mr Abraham, Matt Docking, Luke Dayton, David Symes, and Joshua Scampton baked a mix of choc-chip and ANZAC biscuits for the victims. Students at BHCS also held a free dress day and raised more than $2000 for fellow students at Plenty Valley Christian School where 17 families lost their homes in the Black Saturday blazes.
