🪸2026 Reef Trip🏝️ 18 students were chosen to go on the reef trip this year, it’s an all out adventure to Lady Musgrave Island, camping and snorkelling off of a tropical coral cay 2 hrs by boat off the coast of Bundaberg. The only human-made things on the island are some signs, fences and composting toilets. They all saw so much of the beautiful marine life of the Great Barrier Reef, including: green sea turtles (adult and baby), hawksbill sea turtles, clownfish and blue tangs (nemo and dory), eagle rays, white and black tip reef sharks, tawny nurse sharks, all the birds of the island, and plenty of colourful tropical fish. Each night, they would all watch the sunset, reflecting on the day and their time on the island. The day before they were going to leave, though, they found out they would have to stay an extra two days. Because of the swell and high wind speeds, the boat had to be delayed. We made the most of the extra two days and we are now back safe and sound! Massive thanks to for facilitating this trip their staff were amazing and added to our experience!

What a week of creativity and performance!
Last week our Dance, Drama, Live Production and Services, and Music students lit up the stage with their final pieces across two great nights. It was such a joy to watch their energy lift in front of a live audience, the confidence, the artistry, the teamwork, all coming together wonderfully.
A huge thank you to the teachers who guided and supported the students throughout the process. And congratulations to every student involved: the backstage crews running the technical production, the dancers bringing creative energy, the actors delivering standout theatrical moments, and the musicians reimagining music numbers in fresh styles and genres.
A celebration of talent, dedication, and hard work in the Arts! We can’t wait for the Media film night next week! 🎭 💃🏼 🎶

Some of our Year 12 students spent Thursday at the Canberra Theatre watching The Sapphires, a powerful celebration of music, culture, resilience and kinship.
Experiencing it one day after the conclusion of National Reconciliation Week, the performance provided a valuable opportunity to engage with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander stories, perspectives and histories through the arts.
A memorable and meaningful experience for all involved. 🎭

We were excited to welcome ceramic artist Cathy Franzi to our school. Cathy shared insights into her creative process and demonstrated her carving techniques.
Our students, who have been exploring the sgraffito technique in class, were inspired to see Cathy’ artistry up close. Her passion for ceramics and connection to nature truly brought the craft to life.
A huge thank you to Cathy for her generosity and inspiration, what a memorable experience for our budding artists!

Huge thanks to Dr Peter Unmack for visiting our HMAS R unit in week 13. His fast‑paced talk on his career, the Running River Rainbow Fish conservation win, and seeing his fishes on Australia Post stamps had the whole class buzzing. We loved hearing about his pathway and work (or ‘hobby’ as Peter called it!). 🐟✨
