Ever had one of those "What should I be doing with my child?" moments? You might already have the answer at home.

Earlier this year, every Goodstart family received a What & When for Families guide for each child. If it's been tucked away in a drawer since then, now might be the perfect time to pull it back out.

The guide is packed with simple, play-based activities that support your child's learning and development at home. Best of all, it's written in your child's voice, with ideas tailored to their age and developmental stage.

From singing songs with babies and playing peek-a-boo, to "I Spy" games, storytelling and treasure hunts with older children, the activities are designed to fit naturally into everyday moments you already share together.

We know learning doesn't only happen in the classroom. Those small moments at home can help build big communication, language and literacy skills.

🌟 A Magical Start to Our Flying Start 3-Year-Old Preschool Program! 🚀📚

We were thrilled to celebrate the official launch of our Flying Start 3-Year-Old Preschool Program yesterday, marking the beginning of an exciting learning journey for our youngest preschoolers!

Our children had a wonderful time exploring, learning, and celebrating this special milestone. One of the highlights of the day was welcoming our local MP, Catherine Hutchesson, who joined us to celebrate the launch and delight our 3-year-olds with a wonderful story. The children were completely engaged, listening with excitement and letting their imaginations come to life through the joy of reading.

The Flying Start program is designed to build confidence, curiosity, language, and early learning skills through play-based experiences, helping children develop a lifelong love of learning. It was heartwarming to see our little learners so enthusiastic and eager to participate.

A huge thank you to Catherine Hutchesson MP
for taking the time to celebrate this important occasion with us and for sharing the gift of storytelling with our children. We also thank our amazing educators and families for making the launch such a memorable success.

This accomplishment reflects our team’s unwavering commitment to maintaining the highest standards of quality and safety in our centre.

The research is clear 📚 reading aloud is one of the most powerful things we can do for our children.

When we read with a child, we’re doing far more than sharing a story. We’re building the foundations for language, confidence, curiosity and a lifelong love of learning.

Decades of research shows that children who are read to regularly:

💛 Build stronger language skills
Hearing rich varied language in books exposes children to far more words than everyday conversation alone. This growing vocabulary helps them understand, communicate and make sense of the world.

💛 Develop early literacy skills long before they learn to read
Through stories, children learn how books work – that print carries meaning, that pages turn left to right, and that stories have a beginning, middle and end. These early understandings make learning to read feel familiar and exciting.

💛 Strengthen phonological awareness
Rhymes, rhythms and playful sounds help children hear the building blocks of language.

💛 Grow their comprehension and thinking skills
Talking together about a story, predicting what might happen, wondering how a character feels, and connecting events to real life helps children develop memory, problem-solving, and higher-order thinking.

🎓✨ What a truly special and emotional day celebrating our amazing graduates! ✨🎓

Last week we celebrated the incredible journey of our preschool children as they prepare for their next big adventure- school! We are so proud of how much they have grown in confidence, kindness, curiosity and independence.

For me, the day was even more special because it was also my own son’s graduation. Watching him graduate alongside the children and families I’ve had the privilege of supporting made this milestone incredibly meaningful and emotional. It was a beautiful reminder of how precious these early years are and what an honour it is to be part of every child’s journey.

A heartfelt thank you to our wonderful educators and families for making today such a memorable celebration. Your support, encouragement and partnership mean so much.

Congratulations to all of our graduates! 🌟 We know you will achieve amazing things as you begin this exciting new chapter. Keep learning, keep dreaming, and always believe in yourselves. We couldn’t be prouder! 💙
