✨ A Special Opening for Our New Learning Hub! ✨

We were honoured to welcome Mr David Scaife, MLA for Cockburn, to officially open our new Learning Hub space.

Our students proudly showed Mr Scaife all the exciting ways the space supports learning and creativity, from using the 3D printer, playing chess, and enjoying a good book, to building and designing with LEGO and so much more! 📚♟️🧱🖨️

This wonderful space provides opportunities for students to explore their interests, think creatively, collaborate with others, and develop new skills.

A sincere thank you to David Scaife for supporting our school and helping us open this fantastic new learning environment. 💚

A Peek Inside 👀

We're excited to give you a peek inside our classrooms and showcase the learning happening around our school! We're stepping into Year 4. ✨

Our Year 4 students have been working collaboratively to apply their knowledge of multiplication to solve word problems. They have also put their creativity on display by designing and creating board games that promote healthy habits and positive choices. 🎲💚

On Friday, the staff at St Jerome's participated in a Professional Learning session focused on the latest research, evidence, and neuroscience surrounding how students learn to read. Together, we deepened our understanding of how we can more effectively teach, support, challenge, and engage students in this critical area of learning.

Reading is the foundation for success across all learning areas, and our commitment ensures we continue to provide the best possible outcomes for every student. 📚

The fun isn't just for our students! We've now created mini Running Club keyrings for staff and parents, so our grown-up runners can proudly show off their kilometres too.

This week, we celebrated Book Week, recognising the importance of reading in inspiring imagination, creativity, and a lifelong love of learning.

Today's Book Week Parade brought together students from Pre-Primary to Year 6 in the school hall, with a record number of students and staff dressing up as their favourite book characters. It was wonderful to see so much enthusiasm and school spirit on display.

Thank you to the hundreds of family members who joined us for the parade. We greatly value your partnership and support.

Our Kindy students also enjoyed a special celebration with their Year 3 buddies, who shared stories and helped make the day memorable. The Kindy students proudly showcased their costumes in their own mini parade, and we thank the Kindy team for all their efforts in making the festivities so special.

Today, as part of our NAIDOC Week celebrations, our students recognised this year's theme, "50 Years of Deadly."

After a lovely liturgy, students enjoyed a range of meaningful activities, including traditional First Nations games, storytelling, craft, damper making and artwork, while learning about and celebrating the rich histories, cultures and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.

A big thank you to our amazing NAIDOC Committee, all our wonderful staff and very confident Year 6 leaders for making today such a special celebration.

This week, we were thrilled to welcome the Year 12 West Coast Eagles SEDA students to St Jerome's to lead an exciting football clinic for our Pre-Primary, Year 1, Year 2 and Year 6 students.

Our students had a fantastic time developing fundamental football skills, including marking, handballing, kicking, aiming at a target, agility and spatial awareness. More importantly, they built confidence, worked as a team and embraced every challenge with enthusiasm.

We are incredibly fortunate to have such a strong partnership with SEDA College. Their students are outstanding role models who bring energy, encouragement and a genuine passion for working with younger students. Our children always look forward to learning from these fun and inspiring "big kids!"

A huge thank you to the West Coast Eagles SEDA team for sharing your time, knowledge and enthusiasm with our students. We can't wait to welcome you back!

📚 Reading Club – Stories That Connect Us 💛🖤❤️

This morning at Reading Club, our students explored the powerful idea that stories connect us to culture, Country and community. Stories help us learn from the past, celebrate the present and inspire the next generation.

As we prepare to celebrate NAIDOC Week next week, we were delighted to welcome Mrs Riou as our Mystery Reader. She did a wonderful job sharing the beautiful picture book Belonging by Ambelin Kwaymullina, encouraging our students to reflect on identity, connection and the importance of caring for one another and the world around us.

Thank you, Mrs Riou, for helping bring this meaningful story to life and for inspiring a love of reading in our students.

At St Jerome's, we believe stories have the power to build understanding, foster respect and strengthen our community. We look forward to celebrating NAIDOC Week together next week.
