FATHER'S DAY CELEBRATIONS / This week has been all about celebrating our father's and father figures. Pre-School was full of smiles this week as children enjoyed a range of fun activities with their special guests, from “shaving” dad, decorating cookies, crafting and painting, to reading stories, building brick cities, and even flying paper aeroplanes.
Yesterday we celebrated with a yummy breakfast and barista coffee, followed by classroom visits for the Junior dads.
Wishing all our special dad's a very Happy Father's Day!

BOOK WEEK / Our Junior Campus students created a 'Symphony of Stories' during Book Week celebrations. Students and staff went to great lengths to dress up in fabulous costumes inspired by their favourite book characters for the book parade. All students were given the opportunity to purchase a new book from the book fair and enjoyed author visits. What a wonderful week celebrating and inspiring a life-long love of reading!

2027 YEAR 7 ORIENTATION / Last week we were delighted to welcome parents and students of our 2027 Year 7 cohort for their first Arden Orientation Day. They heard from current Year 7 and 11 students and key staff during student and parent dedicated Q&A sessions. Students attended Chapel, enjoyed morning tea and lunch together. Hosted by our Year 10 students, the cohort participated in four practical lessons across TAS, Drama, Music, Visual Arts, History and Science. Activities ranged from dissecting squid and creating monoprints to making mini pizzas.

We look forward to welcoming the 2027 Year 7 students back for their second Orientation Day later this year.

REPTILE ENCOUNTERS / Our Pre-Schools had the joy of meeting some incredible creatures this week, courtesy of Bailey from WOW Encounters! Students learnt all about these amazing reptiles and amphibians and their important role in our environment, what to do if we are bitten by a venomous snake and had the chance to meet (and even touch) each one.
The stars of the show were Spaghetti the Python, Duckie the Monitor Lizard, Cuddles the Snake, Shelley the Shingleback Lizard, Popcorn the Bearded Dragon, Lollypop the Blue Tongue Lizard and Kermit the Frog!

What a joy-filled day of discovery and courage - some of our littlest learners came face-to-face with their fears, and a python that was bigger than them!

CULTURAL EXCHANGE / Arden is proud to provide an exceptional co-educational learning experience that nurtures the uniqueness of confident, capable global citizens.
Earlier this term the Arden community was delighted to host a group of 21 students from Tsuchiura Daini High School, Japan for one week. The 16–17-year-old students were very excited to be visiting Australia and experiencing school life here. They were hosted by Arden families and attended school each day, going to their own English classes (with an external teacher) in the morning from Period 1 to Period 5 and joining Arden students for Period 6 and Period 7 lessons.
Some of the joint classes and activities included a music lesson singing ‘Waltzing Matilda’, a Mathematics lesson incorporating an abacus challenge, an art class where each student crafted a tile in a collage of Sydney Harbour, a visit to our Junior Campus where they engaged with our younger students and a spritely game of netball. Towards the conclusion of the exchange the Japanese students provided a cultural presentation and performance for the Year 10 cohort.
Student cultural exchange programs such as this foster mutual understanding and provide the opportunity to demonstrate the School Values of Compassion, Courage, and Respect.

NATIONAL SCIENCE WEEK ACTIVITIES / Learning at Arden aims to engage students in a way which stimulates their curiosity, inspires their creativity, and creates a passion for discovery, preparing them to achieve their full potential.
This week Junior and Secondary Campus students undertook joint experiments to mark Science Week. The theme this year - The Seeds of Science - invites students to explore the power of curiosity, inquiry and shared learning in growing scientific understanding.
Our Kindergarteners (ably assisted by their Year 6 'god parents'), Year 1 and Year 2 students worked with a Year 10 Science class to create seed balls. Years 3-6 started a crystal growing experiment with collaboration from Year 10 Science students. Then Kindergarten enjoyed another opportunity where they dove into the science behind toys.
It has been encouraging to see the levels of wonder, collaboration and love of learning from all students during the activities.

CLASS OF 2025 RETURNS / We love seeing our alumni and current students come together to support one another. At a recent Class of 2025 Alumni Assembly, former students shared perspectives on how their Arden education has positively impacted their life post school, how the School’s Values provided them with a foundation to excel and how to embrace the joy of learning.
These insights and personal experiences sparked meaningful conversations and self-reflection amongst our current students beyond the Assembly interviews.
Arden graduates are curious, courageous and compassionate men and women with an enduring passion for learning who transform the communities in which they live and work. This annual event is a celebration of connection and community and provides the opportunity to reconnect, reminisce and rediscover. It is so rewarding to see past students thriving and embracing new opportunities beyond our school.
Thank you to everyone who attended. A gallery of photos taken at the event has been published on the Arden Alumni Association website.
