Happy Birthday Maria! 🎉🎂
Yesterday, we celebrated the birthday of Maria Montessori, who was born on the 31st August, 1870.
We marked the occasion with a special Birthday Walk before coming together to listen to Light a Candle for Peace. Then we blew out the candle together, reflecting with gratitude on the wonderful Montessori materials she created. It was a simple yet beautiful celebration of Maria Montessori’s legacy and the gift she gave to children around the world.

Did you know? 🤔
The Victorian Curriculum expects students to count, order and represent numbers to 10,000 by the end of Year 3. In a Montessori classroom, children often go much further, confidently exploring numbers into the millions!
How is this possible? ✨
Montessori doesn't rely on memorisation alone. Children learn through hands-on, concrete materials that physically represent quantity.
The result? ✨
When children can see and hold mathematics in their hands, there is often no limit to how far their understanding can grow.

As part of this year's theme, Symphony of Stories, we dressed as our favourite storybook characters, visited the local library for storytime, enjoyed student book reviews and a musical performance at a whole school assembly and were captivated by a storytelling workshop with Twiggy's Tales.
A week of bookish fun!

What a fantastic day on Country! 🌿
Last Friday, Cycle 3 students became birdwatchers, explorers and shelter builders, all in one day! Using their personalised Dhudhuroa birdwatching books, they spotted kidaunu (cockatoos), bawarro (parrots), bindarrandarri (plovers), and other local birds, found a bowerbird nest, and built some amazing kanyas (shelters).
