Bedourie State School

Bedourie State School Bedourie State School believes all children can find 'Happiness through Learning.' Bedourie State School is located on the edge of the Simpson Desert.

It is 200 km north of the iconic town of Birdsville, 500 km south of Mt Isa and 1600km west of Brisbane. The town is the administration centre for the Diamantina Shire, and has a population of about 120. The existing school building was opened in 1967. Prior to this opening, school lessons were held in the Shire Hall, which is now the Shire Office! The school presently caters for children from the

Preparatory Year through to Year 6. Once children have completed their primary education, most of them move off to boarding school. Some, however, elect to study at home through the Distance Education mode.

Today, Constable Phil came to talk to us about road safety. We learnt that when we are riding our bikes, we should always wear a helmet and ride on the footpaths to help keep us safe. Constable Phil even brought his bike helmet to show us. It was hard on the outside but soft on the inside.

We shared with Constable Phil the pictures we took on Monday of ourselves crossing the Children’s Crossing safely. Constable Phil reminded us to always look and listen before crossing any road.

Thank you, Constable Phil, for taking the time to come and speak to us today! 🚲👮‍♂️

Drop ins welcome. Just come and enjoy a fun morning celebrating a love of reading!

What a great day spent with amazing people! Thank you Paula and Jenny for making our Bedourie NAIDOC celebration a reality. Thank you to all the folks who travelled out to bring lots of goodies, activities and most importantly, fellowship. Mrs Carige enjoyed running the school stall and participating in the activities.
