Specialist Government school for students in years 10 to 12 with a passion for science & mathematics.

We believe that by tackling challenging, interconnected real world problems, our students are more engaged in their learning and better prepared for their future. By applying science and mathematics in a real world context, our lessons have relevance and meaning. Our students don’t just remember what they learn, they understand. By working in partnership with Flinders University, our students enjo

As National Reconciliation Week 2026 ends, it is time to reflect on how the ASMS has committed to being ‘All In’ to make change.

Our cohort watched the documentary called 'In My Blood It Runs' which asks us to consider the harms of systemic racism and highlights the need for reform and protection of First Nations children's rights to learn their own culture and language. Students were very thoughtful in their engagement with this learning program and made many insightful comments in our discussions about the film themes.

Eight students proudly represented our school at this year’s Reconciliation Breakfast held at the Adelaide Convention Centre. Students heard from keynote speaker Eddie Betts and enjoyed performances by Casey Donovan and Nathan May. The breakfast provided a valuable opportunity for students to deepen their understanding of Australia’s shared history and consider their role in creating a more respectful and inclusive future.

We were also very privileged to be loaned MOIETY, a portrait of Ethan Johnson, by Aboriginal photographer and filmmaker Colleen Strangways which was displayed in our foyer during National Reconciliation Week. Students were able to view this striking portrait this week, giving everyone the chance to stop and reflect on what it means to them, and consider the broader concept of how we all see each other.

Curiosity in the Community Week 2026 has come to an end 🎉

Work Experience students have been gaining knowledge in their chosen field, exploring career pathways in microscopy, biomedical research, pathology, architecture, psychology, education and more.

The Knitting for Charity cohort has spent the week making rescue pouches for orphaned native wildlife and have been collecting donations for not-for-profit organisations.

The Riverland group presented science workshops to young STEM minds at Barmera Primary School and Cobdogla Primary School. They also explored the local sights at the Loxton Historical Village and learned about the agriculture industry at the Loxton Research Centre.

A special thank you to all who have welcomed our ASMS cohort for CiC Week 2026! It was brilliant to see our students share their passion for science, technology, engineering and mathematics with everyone that they met along the way.

It’s been an exciting few days for our cohort, who have been stretching their learning outside of the classroom during CiC Week.

The Port Lincoln group have been enjoying the sights of the Eyre Peninsula, while gaining insight into the local aquaculture industry through a tour of an oyster farm. They have also been out to Port Lincoln Primary School and Tumby Bay Area School where they demonstrated bottle rockets, glitterbug, squishy circuits, and earthquake tower practicals for the younger students.

The Swan Reach team headed northeast of Adelaide to show a range of fun STEM activities to primary learners. They also visited the Dark Sky Reserve, explored indigenous history and rock art at Ngaut Ngaut Conversation Park, and continued building on their astronomy knowledge through an excursion to the Planetarium.

Our Sharing the Science Group have been working on their teamwork and public speaking skills by leading workshops, which they have presented to various local primary schools this week.

It has been wonderful to see our ASMS students connect with communities across the state so far.

Curiosity in the Community Week 2026 is off to a flying start! CiC Week provides our Year 10 & 11 cohort with the opportunity to promote STEM across South Australia and connect with others through meaningful service-based learning.

First up, our Far-ish North group have visited Woomera Area School to present a range of engaging science practicals such as puff cars and marshmallow towers. The VR Adventure team have spent the week helping groups of Year 5 and 6 students immerse themselves in Spheros robots, merge cubes, and VR experiences.

The Media team have been upskilling their photography techniques out in the field, the Personalise Your Own group have been making bracelets to sell for charity, and the Biodiversity cohort have spent their time expanding their knowledge of native plant and animal species through mindful photography.

The Naracoorte group have visited the Victoria caves, giving our students the chance to learn about the local paleontological phenomena before presenting STEM activities to regional primary schools.

Check back in throughout the week to see how the rest of CiC Week evolves!

Our friends from the UK arrive very soon, but we still need families to host them while they’re here!

The group from Camborne Science & International Academy located in Cornwall, England are arriving next Thursday and are staying until Easter Saturday.

As a homestay family you will have the opportunity to not only show off the wonderful things that make Australia and South Australia unique, but you will also have the chance to learn about student life in the United Kingdom. The visit from Camborne Science & International Academy is part of a reciprocal exchange program with our school, so families will not receive hosting fees.

Homestay families are not restricted to ASMS families, anyone can be a homestay family so please spread the word and tell your family and friends!

❤️💛ACTIVITIES DAY 2026!💚💙

The ASMS cohort didn’t let the weather rain on their parade yesterday, powering through the conditions for Activities Day with energy and enthusiasm!

The red, yellow, green and blue cohorts cheered on their LSG teams and colour groups as they competed in track and field events, volleyball, pétanque, frisbee, soccer, vortex – and of course, the iconic ASMS spelling bee, giving all students the chance to participate and earn points for their colour group.

After a morning and afternoon filled with school spirit and sportsmanship, it was announced that yellow took the top spot for 2026!

Thank you to the Sports Coordinator and Activities Day Committee for their hard work organising this event, and for the wonderful display of camaraderie from our student body.

Yesterday we warmly welcomed our cohort to the Australian Science and Mathematics School for the 2026 school year.

The first day started with an assembly for all year levels and was followed by icebreaker games and team activities in Learning Studies Groups. Today, we held a whole school barbeque at lunchtime to give our students the chance to build connections as they began their Central Studies and Stage 2 classes.

We are thrilled to have our ASMS community on board for another year of extraordinary learning!

Congratulations to our Year 12 cohort on their SACE results today!

It is so fantastic to see all your hard work, resilience, and determination come to fruition throughout your 3-year journey at the ASMS. If you have any questions, please reach out to the school.

On behalf of the entire Australian Science and Mathematics School community, we wish the Class of 2025 every success for the future.
