I've been thinking back to how I supported my own kids for getting ready for school.

I remember feeling very privileged that I knew what would be expected of them when they reached the classroom.

So here's the simplified version of what I did:

Simple tasks can build vocabulary
More words means they understand more.
Means they can connect to what they learn in the classroom.

Play introduces them to letters.
I would write their names anywhere I possibly could. Sauce on their food. Sticks in the sand.

I would say out loud anytime I noticed letters in our environment. Parks. Footpaths. Cafes. Cards. Clothes.
"Look there's an A. It looks a bit like a mountain with a line through it! Just like in your name!"

Counting is becomes a rhythm.
We would count everything.
Stairs. Books. Windows. Animals.
When you hear it all the time, it becomes second nature.
We would go for a walk and find letterboxes and car registration plates with numbers and letters.

This is just the unplanned things you can do too.
I'll make another post on the planned activities that you can do at home too.

We'll be working on helping with social and emotional development - sharing, turn taking, expressing needs and wants, building frustration tolerance and co regulation.

Places are limited to maintain an appropriate size group to enable social learning but not overwhelm.

10 step plan to expand my business

Step 10: Improve Marketing/SEO

WOWSER! This was a big one.
I had to learn how to get in the background of my website, in exactly the right place and put all of the descriptions in to make sure the AI Crawlers (new term for me!) can find the right information to send people my way when they search for tutoring in their area.

I'll have to do a bit more to make sure my website is 'optimised'.

Expanding my business

Step 6: update resources

For me, I know if I want to be bigger and better, I need to be ready to hold it.

Which looks like making/sourcing/collecting the resources before they're even needed.

So today, I make a dent in completing step 6. This is one session of many to come.
