🎨⚽🔬 What's your favourite subject at school?
We asked our students this question and loved hearing their responses!
From creating and designing in STEAM, to expressing creativity through Art, and staying active in P.E., our students enjoy learning in many different ways.
Providing opportunities for children to explore, create, move and problem solve helps them discover their strengths and develop confidence in the classroom and beyond.

🌿✨ STEAM in Action! ✨🌿
Our young learners have been busy combining creativity, problem-solving and design thinking during STEAM!
Before building, each child carefully planned and sketched their creation in their design books. It has been wonderful to see their imaginative ideas come to life, with students thoughtfully considering how they could use natural materials wherever possible.
Using sticks, leaves, bark, seed pods and other treasures from nature, the children are discovering that great designs can be created from the world around us. 🌱🍃
The finished creations are as unique as the children who designed them, and we are so proud of the creativity, perseverance and thoughtful planning they have shown throughout the process.
We can't wait to share their finished masterpieces with you!
🌏🌱 World Environment Day at Burwood Brickworks 🌱🌏
Today, students from 1/2F and 3/4OH enjoyed a fantastic World Environment Day excursion to Burwood Brickworks.
Throughout the day, students learned about the importance of sustainability and how simple actions can help care for our environment. They explored composting, discovered how food is grown, enjoyed tasting fresh carrots, and had the opportunity to touch and experience a variety of plants growing in the rooftop garden.
The excursion provided a valuable hands-on learning experience and encouraged students to think about ways they can care for our common home each day.
A special thank you to the Rotary Club of Box Hill Burwood for supporting this wonderful opportunity for our students. We are grateful for your generosity and commitment to environmental education.

A Day in the Life of a Principal!
What does it take to run a school? Our student principals were determined to find out!
Today they tackled a long list of important principal duties, including answering phone calls, completing paperwork, giving feedback to students, attending meetings, handing out stickers and even taking care of some leaf-blowing around the school grounds. 🍃📞⭐
After a busy day of leadership, decision-making and problem-solving, our student principals gained a new appreciation for all the work that happens behind the scenes each day.
A huge thank you to our principal for everything you do to support our students, staff and school community. 💙
🎨✨ Relaxation Room Fridays ✨🎨
Every Friday at lunch, our Relaxation Room provides students with a calm and welcoming space to relax, create and recharge.
Students enjoy a range of mindful activities including craft, beading, loom bands and the use of fidgets. These opportunities allow students to express their creativity, practise fine motor skills and take a quiet moment during a busy school day.
It is wonderful to see students enjoying this space, connecting with others and taking pride in the creations they make each week.
What’s your favourite place to play outside? 🌿
Our students loved showing off some of their favourite spaces around the school, including the sensory garden, the oval and the playground!
These are the places where friendships grow, imaginations shine and so many happy memories are made each day. 💙
At Our Lady of Lourdes Primary School, we love creating opportunities for children to learn, play and thrive both inside and outside the classroom.
We can’t wait for our future Prep students to explore them too!
The playground is more than just a place to play; it’s where friendships grow, confidence builds and some of our students’ favourite memories are made 💛
Whether it’s kicking the footy on the oval, scoring goals with friends, exploring the sensory garden, racing to the monkey bars, zooming down the slide or creating masterpieces in the sandpit, there’s something special for every child to enjoy.
Every day our playgrounds are filled with laughter, imagination and happy little moments that make school so memorable ✨
We wonder… which area would become your child’s favourite?

Congrats to Harry, the winner of the Lynne Greenlees Community Award at Our Lady of Lourdes Primary!
The 2025 Lynne Greenlees Award is presented to a student who shows resilience, inclusivity, strives to be their best at school and shows respect for others.
Harry’s interactions with members of staff, parents and other adults are always respectful. He is often the first to say “Good morning” as staff are encountered on the way to class or on arrival in the morning.
He has been a fabulous ambassador for Our Lady of Lourdes in this role and when visiting the local kindergartens.
When asked by staff about their experiences of this student most commonly the words heard were ‘genuine, caring nature’.
Harry has blossomed and flourished throughout their time at Our Lady of Lourdes, but most particularly he has shown leadership and done their best to ‘set the standard’.
Well done mate!
