Sewing Time

Here is a few of many highlights from our recent, fabulous “beginner basics intensive weekend”!
I am so beyond proud of the dedication to learning and positive spirit everyone who attended put into their sewing. It certainly pays off! Everyone’s projects were absolutely fabulous, and their stitching was impeccable!

All of these beautiful people were such a joy to teach, but even more so, what a joy it was to get to know them all! I call them “Mr G and His Angels”, but truely all of them were such beautiful souls - it was like having angels with me in the sewing room.

Not only did we sew, we also created lasting memories and shared many stories 🩷
It is both funny and beautiful how strangers can become such compassionate and empathetic confidants, ultimately turning into friends by the end of a session. This is a beautiful part of my job as I feel there is no greater reward than bringing people together, or more in touch with themselves as they develop a new hobby 🩷🌸

We learnt so many fabulous skills by sewing our aprons, tote bags and makeup pouches! And in true Sewing Time style, we indulged in some coffee, cake and smiles to top it off 🌸🧵🪡

Happy Mothers Day to all Mums and those who are our surrogate mums! Whether celebrating with us at lunch today, or in heaven, we are beyond lucky to experience the love and devotion they have for us. They are the ladies who push us to achieve our dreams and pick us up when we fall down, all so that they can see us happy🤍

Today we had a beautiful time in our Mother & Daughter workshop! We made some fabulous makeup and pencil rolls, diligently working on our stitching and refining techniques. Some of us made tote bags as well to garner experience as we were just beginners!

I loved seeing how special it was for all involved to spend some quality time together and learn about each other. These are such beautiful bonding experiences. Well done everyone and thank you for coming!! You are all beautiful inside and out 💘🌸

I am beyond proud of my beautiful student Rishona who was chosen for SHAPE with her Year 12 HSC Major Work for Textiles. To say I am proud of her would be an understatement, I don’t think I have any words to truely convey the sense of love, joy and gratitude I have towards her and her parents. For over 7 years, Rishona has been my student - and during this time I have watched her blossom as a learner and individual. She has put in countless hours of hard work with her design, often working on it in our classes and her own time. This project is such a labour of love. Rishona has meticulously perfected all techniques in this garment and shown how unique her creative expression is. She dyed her fabric with avocado seeds, and manipulated the fabric for the front leg; French seams were even added!

All of my year 12 students have been so dear to my heart and will continue to be. I cannot thank them and their parents enough for trusting me to guide them on this journey. A major work is a true labour of love, and my Rishona has done so beautifully conveying the love she has for this craft in hers. Please swipe to enjoy some photos of her garment. It is such a special feeling to see someone you teach grow and be nominated for something so important. My dear, you have accomplished so much and I am beyond excited to see what else you accomplish!
