So many opportunities at Little Penguins Family Day Care Playgroup!

Bathurst Family Day Care Educator Kate Bolt recently organised SES volunteers to visit her service for playgroup. Along with their truck, the volunteers also brough their friend, Patty the Platypus!

Children learnt about the special equipment and tools that SES volunteers may use when they are helping people, as well as steps that they can take in case of emergency.

Bathurst Family Day Care are very fortunate to have wonderful Educators who ensure that their children in care have the same opportunities that children accessing long day care and preschool may have. Exposing children to community knowledge and supports are just one of the ways that we ensure children are connected with and contribute to their world.

Scallywags Preschool children attended Bathurst Memorial Entertainment Centre - BMEC last week to see the Bathurst Regional Council 50 Years of Deadly NAIDOC Display.

Children and Educators explored NAIDOC Week artworks from the past 50 years, sparking conversation and new understandings. Children noticed the changing artwork styles from beginning to end, as well as the messages that we celebrate each year.

Throughout NAIDOC Week, Preschool took their own journey in exploring the 2026 artwork and the amazing details that it holds. We take this time to reflect on where we have come from, where we are now, and what we can do next.

Wonderful Jen reached 30 years of service with us last week. Jen has consistently provided loving care for children across Bathurst and her passion and joy has never dimmed.

We appreciate you so much, Jen. You are our star! Thank you for all you have done and all that you continue to do for children, families and our community.

This years theme for 2026 is Matariki Herenga Waka - Matariki for Everyone.

The theme centres on inclusion, convergence, and multiculturalism. It highlights bringing all people, cultures and diverse communities together to celebrate.

On Friday our Scallywags Lomandra room headed out on an adventure to Bicentennial Park.

Having easy access to parks and playgrounds ensures that we are providing children with access to their local community, and what better way to do this than with your Scallywags friends!

Children and Educators also explored the environmental changes happening with trees and plants due to the change in seasons.

Lot's of opportunities for play and learning, all the time! A classroom can be anywhere.
