Assumption School enjoyed a special presentation by "Tony Bones" from "Books to Life", last week. Tony engaged every student in a very unique learning experience using CBCA Shortlisted text "Being Indy". He used song, games, puppetry and story-telling to bring this beautiful story to life. At least 35 students held very special roles assisting in some way throughout the afternoon. Tony finished with a great Q&A and staff were thrilled with the quality of questions posed by our students. This was the first of our Term 3 Celebration of Books and Reading: A Symphony of Stories!

🖤💛❤️Aboriginal Culture
Today we welcomed Pete Fitzsimmons from ‘Warrabaa Dreaming’ who joined with his son Hayes in Kindergarten, sharing their Aboriginal culture, knowledge and love of the didgeridoo with us.

In the afternoon our culture group enjoyed learning about the sounds of the didgeridoo, the significance of gum leaves in cleansing and ceremony, and spending time together yarning and dancing.

A special thank you to Pete and Hayes for sharing this meaningful experience with us.

Another fantastic day in Canberra for Year 5 🇦🇺

After an early breakfast, we visited the Museum of Australian Democracy at Old Parliament House and the Australian Electoral Education Centre, where students learnt all about democracy and the voting process. We then enjoyed a tour of the Australian Institute of Sport before finishing with plenty of fun and friendly competition at Sportex!

A wonderful way to wrap up an amazing excursion!

A big first day in Canberra! Year 5 🇦🇺

Today we visited Parliament House, met Andrew Gee, explored the Australian War Memorial, walked along Anzac Parade, participated in the Last Post Ceremony and finished the day with lots of fun at Questacon.

Our students are now tucked up in bed after a fantastic day of learning and adventure and the teachers are ready for sleep too! 🥱

💒 Celebrating the Feast of the Sacred Heart of Jesus ❤️🙏🏻

Today, our school community gathered with Fr Nam to celebrate the Solemnity of Christ, reflecting on Christ’s presence at the centre of our lives and faith. While our parish church is currently unavailable, this has reminded us that sacred spaces are created wherever people come together in faith, prayer and worship. We are grateful for the opportunity to continue celebrating our Catholic traditions as a faith-filled community.

On Tuesday our Year 5 and 6 students took to the stage for their dance concert and what a wonderful afternoon it was!

We are so proud of the enthusiasm and teamwork our students showed in every performance. Performing arts plays such an important role in helping children express themselves creatively, build confidence and connect with others.

A huge thank you to Mrs Brown for the time, care and energy she puts into guiding our students and bringing these performances to life. We are so grateful for all you do.

Well done Year 5 and 6 - you were fantastic!

Year 6 Camp

We have arrived safely at Lake Burrendong and enjoyed our first couple of activities! A night of games and now watching the State of Origin. The Queensland supporters are outside in the cold where they belong! 😆 Go the Blues! 💙
