Have your say on accessibility and inclusion

Council is developing our next Disability Inclusion Action Plan, and we want to hear from you. We are hosting two community focus groups on:
• 5:30pm on Tuesday 1 September 2026 at Bathurst Rail Museum, 126 Havannah Street Bathurst.
• 10:00am on Wednesday 2 September 2026 at the Central Tablelands Collections Facility, 20 Leena Street Bathurst.

Your feedback will help shape Council’s Disability Inclusion Action Plan 2027-2031.

A Saturday well spent learning about “The Play Cycle” with the incredible play, playing and playwork Expert Marc Armitage at Play

Teachers from ECEC services, Schools, Adult Education, Inclusion Support and Early Intervention came together to laugh, learn and be incredibly inspired.

Thanks to those who travelled, with Forbes, Kandos, Lithgow, Orange, Portland and Bathurst represented.

Special shout-out to Marc- all the way from apparently tropical Melbourne- for your wisdom and words.

Marc was thanked again with a tub of Sofala Gold Annie's ice cream. Pretty sure now that is the main reason he keeps coming back!

See you in 2027, Marc.

New to your child's diagnosis? Not sure who to tell or what to say? The Raising Children Network has some great resources available.

Talking about your child with disability, autism or ADHD can help people understand your child. It can also help you accept the diagnosis and get support.

BECIS was delighted to open our doors to the community to celebrate National Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Children’s Day on Tuesday the 4th of August.

The sun shone for us as we welcomed over 150 children, educators and community members to play, share and celebrate together.

The day included rock painting, hand prints, colouring, face painting, indigenous crafts, a smoking ceremony, a magician, a big pot of homemade chicken soup, damper, cupcakes and fruit.
The children were also lucky enough to receive a goodie bag or toy kangaroo kindly donated by local businesses.

A huge thank you to all those who helped organise this amazing event, working tirelessly to gather donations, setting up activities and bringing together our community.

A big thank you also goes to the amazing children’s services who made the effort to come and join us on the day. We hope you had as much fun as we did.

Today we celebrate National Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Children's Day.

This year's theme, Living Our Truth, celebrates the journeys Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children take as they grow, guided by culture, community and connection to Country. Today, we honour the incredible strengths, stories, cultures and voices of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children, and recognise the importance of nurturing their dreams and identities so they can walk strong in who they are.

BECIS is excited to be hosting this year's Bathurst event at our service and cannot wait to welcome our community. Stay tuned for pictures of celebrations
