'A smart thing': Road safety advocate supports idea of reducing speed limit 25/06/2024

Let’s have this conversation. Obviously I support it - the only debate should be around which streets are re-zoned, and which areas of town should be considered.

Timely that I’m at the Australian Road Safety Foundation 2024 Awards in Canberra today, with Russell White, Campbell Walker, and many other Road Safety stakeholders.

I’m about to turn 90, and I didn’t want to give up my licence. One moment changed my mind 08/05/2024

As we observe National Road Safety Week, this opinion piece from an amazing 90 year old lady makes for compelling reading.

Here at Calare Academy of Road Safety we can assess older drivers for their biannual driving tests, from the age of 85. NSW is the only jurisdiction that re-tests its senior drivers. We are a TfNSW-Accredited Provider of Older Driver Assessments, so reach out if you have questions.

I’m about to turn 90, and I didn’t want to give up my licence. One moment changed my mind I learned to drive on the Bathurst track and back in the day I owned a Ford GT. I know how to handle a car. Yet, I’ve made the heartbreaking decision to give up driving, and to sell my car.

Tonight I stood beside a small but dedicated group of Road Safety stakeholders, advocates and practitioners as we launched Australian Road Safety Week 2024.

This year the focus is on road safety being local - this is particularly true for regional communities, with 2 out of every 3 fatalities occurring in Regional NSW.

Everyone deserves to get home safely. No exceptions.
