At Goodstart Early Learning Bateau Bay, child safety is at the heart of everything we do.
We are committed to creating a safe, secure and nurturing environment where every child feels valued, respected, heard and protected.

Our dedicated educators work together to promote children’s wellbeing, build trusting relationships, encourage open communication and ensure that child safety remains a shared responsibility every day.

We believe every child has the right to learn, play, grow and thrive in an environment where their safety and wellbeing come first. 🌱

Together, we can create a culture where children feel confident to speak up, know that they will be listened to, and are supported to develop the skills and confidence to keep themselves safe.

At Goodstart Bateau Bay, keeping children safe isn’t just a commitment — it’s part of who we are.

✨💙 National Pyjama Day 2026 💙✨

Today, our little learners and educators proudly wore their favourite pyjamas to celebrate National Pyjama Day! 🧸🛏️💤

It was a wonderful day filled with cosy fun, laughter, storytelling, and learning—all while raising awareness of the importance of helping children in foster care. Every child deserves to feel safe, supported, and loved, and we're proud to join communities across Australia in recognising this meaningful day.

A big thank you to all of our families for embracing the fun, dressing up in their comfiest PJs, and supporting such an important cause. Together, we're helping make a difference—one pair of pyjamas at a time. ❤️

The research is clear 📚 reading aloud is one of the most powerful things we can do for our children.

When we read with a child, we’re doing far more than sharing a story. We’re building the foundations for language, confidence, curiosity and a lifelong love of learning.

Decades of research shows that children who are read to regularly:

💛 Build stronger language skills
Hearing rich varied language in books exposes children to far more words than everyday conversation alone. This growing vocabulary helps them understand, communicate and make sense of the world.

💛 Develop early literacy skills long before they learn to read
Through stories, children learn how books work – that print carries meaning, that pages turn left to right, and that stories have a beginning, middle and end. These early understandings make learning to read feel familiar and exciting.

💛 Strengthen phonological awareness
Rhymes, rhythms and playful sounds help children hear the building blocks of language.

💛 Grow their comprehension and thinking skills
Talking together about a story, predicting what might happen, wondering how a character feels, and connecting events to real life helps children develop memory, problem-solving, and higher-order thinking.

💛 Experience connection, comfort and joy
Shared reading fosters calmness, closeness, and moments of joint attention. These warm interactions support a child's sense of security and belonging.

Most importantly, children who experience positive, engaging reading moments from a young age are more likely to develop a genuine love of books - something that matters even more than early literacy skills alone.

Reading is simple, joyful, and sets children up for success in school and life.

NAIDOC Week 🌿🖤💛❤️

NAIDOC Week is a special time to recognise, celebrate and learn about the rich histories, cultures, achievements and continuing contributions of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.

For children, it's an opportunity to build understanding, respect and appreciation from an early age. Through stories, art, music, language and shared experiences, children learn about the importance of caring for Country, respecting Elders, valuing different cultures, and understanding that Australia's story began tens of thousands of years before European settlement.

These lessons help nurture kindness, empathy, curiosity and inclusion—values that benefit every child and strengthen our communities.

This NAIDOC Week, let's encourage our children to listen, learn and celebrate the world's oldest continuing cultures with open hearts and open minds. Every conversation, every story and every shared experience helps build a future grounded in respect, understanding and reconciliation.

🕶️😎 Our educators at Goodstart Bateau Bay proudly joined in to support National Sunglasse Day by wearing their favourite sunnies and helping raise awareness about the importance of protecting our eyes from harmful UV rays.

National Sunglasses Day is an annual awareness day that encourages everyone to wear UV-protective sunglasses to help reduce the risk of eye damage caused by the sun. It's a simple reminder that looking after our eye health is important for both children and adults, especially here in Australia where UV levels can be very high.

Our team had so much fun showing off their sunglasses while sparking conversations about sun safety with the children. By modelling healthy habits, we're helping little learners understand that staying sun safe means wearing a hat, applying sunscreen, seeking shade, and protecting our eyes too! ☀️🧢🕶️

A big thank you to our wonderful educators for getting involved and making sun safety both educational and fun!

We’re often asked what being not-for-profit really means for our families.

Simply put, it means that our purpose always comes before profit. Every dollar we make is reinvested back into our centres, to provide children with enriching and safe learning environments.

We understand how important it is for children to be in a place where they feel safe and settled. And when families need to make a change - planned or unexpected - we’re here to help make that transition easier.

We’re here to support families when it matters most – because every child deserves a Goodstart! ✨
