We are excited to invite our community to a special Design Reveal Afternoon for our new Casa Mia Montessori campus!

Thursday 28th May
3:15pm – 4:15pm
Koomal Classroom

Our architects from EIW will be taking families through the preliminary designs for the new campus, sharing how community feedback, workshops, and the design principles developed together have shaped the vision for this next chapter of Casa Mia.

This project represents so much more than buildings, it is the creation of a learning environment designed intentionally for children, connection, independence, and community.

We would love for families to join us as we begin bringing this vision to life together.

Our time beyond the congress was just as meaningful as the learning itself ✨

From standing in awe at Chichén Itzá, to swimming in the breathtaking cenotes of Yucatán Peninsula, to exploring the stories, cultures, and history preserved at the Museum of Anthropology at UBC, every experience reminded us how important it is for educators to continue filling their own hearts and minds with wonder.

As Montessori educators, we are constantly preparing environments for children, but this journey reminded us that we must also prepare ourselves through travel, culture, nature, connection, and experiences that reignite our sense of curiosity and inspiration. When we continue growing as humans, we bring deeper presence, passion, and perspective back to the children we serve.

“Education is a natural process carried out by the child and is not acquired by listening to words but by experiences in the environment.” - Maria Montessori

We are leaving this experience renewed, inspired, and deeply grateful for the opportunity to learn not only in classrooms and workshops, but through the beauty of the world itself.

We recently spent time in Vancouver visiting a number of Canadian Montessori schools, and it was an incredibly inspiring experience.

Each environment we stepped into reflected a deep respect for the child; calm, purposeful classrooms where independence and curiosity were clearly thriving. It was especially valuable to connect with fellow educators, share perspectives, and see how Montessori principles are brought to life in different ways across settings.

What stood out most was the balance between consistency and individuality, while each school held true to Montessori foundations, they also expressed their own unique community and culture.

We’re returning with fresh ideas, new connections, and a renewed appreciation for the power of a thoughtfully prepared environment.

It takes a community to raise a child.

When children are learning to regulate emotions, respect others and take responsibility for their actions, they need consistency between home and school.

Together, we can support children to grow into kind, capable, and responsible members of the community 🤝 🧡

Yesterday we celebrated Harmony Day, a time to recognise and honour the many cultures, languages and stories that make up our community. At Casa Mia, this connects deeply with our Montessori value of global citizenship - helping children understand that they are part of a wider, diverse and interconnected world🧡

Meet Gisele 🇧🇷

Gisele’s journey with Casa Mia started as a parent before she decided she loved Montessori so much she went and did the training… and now we get to keep her in the classroom! With two children who have grown (and are still growing) through Montessori, she brings both the parent perspective and the calm wisdom of a Montessori EA.

Gisele is known for her calm nature, endless kindness and buckets of patience. She’s incredibly thoughtful and her happiness is completely contagious. A beautiful presence in the classroom every day.

Outside of school, Gisele loves to keep fit and is always up for a challenge. You’ll often find her taking on events like City to Surf, usually while raising money for a good cause. She’s also our resident essential oils enthusiast and the staff member most likely to arrive with a lunch so good the rest of us suddenly regret our sandwiches.

We’re very lucky to have Gisele as part of the Casa Mia community 💛
