How amazing is this from one of our local high school students! All the best, Alex and Lake Illawarra High School NSW

Alex Norris - current Lake Illawarra High School Captain - is making his debut for Sydney Swans reserve grade tomorrow, against South Port Sharks in the VFL.

The game is on Kayo at 10am.

We wish Alex all the best!

Lake is proud of you!

Today our Years 4-6 students enjoyed a visit from our Local Police Liasion Officer, learning about safe social media use, positive choices, and respectful interactions. We appreciate our partnership with local police in keeping our community safe! 🤝🚓

Today, we pause to reflect, remember and learn.

As part of National Sorry Day, our students and staff are creating a meaningful whole-school mural titled “Steps Towards Healing”. Through individually designed footprints, students and staff will share messages and images of respect, understanding, compassion and hope, with each footprint representing a step towards reconciliation.

When combined, these footprints will become a permanent mural within our school; a visual reminder of our commitment to honouring the past, respecting the present and walking together towards a better future.

Stay tuned as our “Steps Towards Healing” journey unfolds and this special artwork takes shape.

🧡 THANK YOU, SES! 🧡

This week, our Barrack Heights Public School community proudly wore orange to recognise and celebrate the incredible volunteers of the State Emergency Service.

Through storms, floods, rescues and emergencies, SES volunteers give up their own time to keep our communities safe. Their service, sacrifice and commitment to helping others is something truly special, and we wanted our students to understand the power of giving back to others.

We were honoured to welcome SES volunteers to our school, where they shared stories of courage, teamwork and community service. Their visit helped bring gratitude to life for our students, reminding us that behind every orange uniform is a volunteer choosing to help others when they need it most.

A huge thank you to our students, staff and families who dressed in orange and helped make Wear Orange Wednesday such a meaningful day. We loved seeing our school awash with orange as we celebrated the people who are always there when our community needs them.

As part of our Grow Your Mind focus on gratitude, our students created special thank you messages to let our SES volunteers know just how much they are appreciated.

Thank you for your service. Thank you for your sacrifice. Thank you for caring for our community.
