Our Secondary PBL Assembly was held today where we presented Dream Awards, recognised students for making positive improvements in wearing their uniforms, gave certificates to students who completed barista training and awarded a Public Speaking award to Jasmine! Congratulations to all!

Today, Secondary students attended the Young Drivers Expo held at the TRECC in Tamworth. Students joined workshops and listened to expert talks about safe driving, road hazards and responsible choices.

PSSA Cricket Knockout Round 4
Barraba Central School once again joined forces with our friends at Manilla Central School to field a combined boys cricket team for Round 4 of the PSSA Cricket Knockout. Despite their best efforts, Ben Venue proved to be the stronger side on the day, advancing to the next round.
Ben Venue elected to field first after winning the toss and quickly went through the home team’s batting lineup. With some very impressive cricket, their bowlers bowled out Barraba-Manilla for 18 runs.
In reply, Barraba-Manilla started strongly, applying early pressure by restricting Ben Venue to 2/0. However, the visitors’ batsmen soon found their rhythm, cruising to a 2/59 victory after 12 overs.
Thank you to our umpires and a big thank you to Manilla for joining up with us!

Students from Years 9, 10 & 11 Agriculture, Marine Studies and Life Ready enjoyed a visit to this year's Agquip field days. A large selection of agriculture-related exhibits were on hand, with an emphasis on new technological innovations.

Notwithstanding the many interesting experiences available, the highlight of the day (for me anyway) was the steak sandwiches!

Last Friday, 10 students from Barraba Central took part in the North West Zone Athletics trials.

We’re proud to announce that the following students have qualified for the Regional Carnival in Tamworth on 4 September:

*Billy secured first place in the Shot Put
*Annabel came second in both the 800m and 1500m races
*Maisen finished third in the High Jump
*Noah received fourth in the High Jump
*Hayley achieved fourth place in both the Long Jump and High Jump events

Our Secondary debating team took on Armidale Secondary College today with the topic:
“That all social media platforms should have a lifetime ban for those who share hate speech.”
We were given the negative side and managed to argue our way to a win!
Huge congratulations to Jasmine, Kade, Riley and Lara on an outstanding effort!

Today, our Primary Soccer team took on a well-drilled and highly skilled Ulmarra Public School for Round 3 of the PSSA Small Schools Football Knockout Comp. Although the final score was 4-0 in favour of Ulmarra, our students never gave up and displayed commendable effort and sportsmanship throughout the game.
