The town of Barnawartha offers the best of both worlds, the tranquility and piece of mind of country style living and community values, whilst being a short drive to the cities of Albury and Wodonga and only 296 km from Melbourne. BARNAWARTHA PRIMARY SCHOOL
Our school grounds offer two facilities:

Our Historic Building is the original school house which now provides Maternal and Child Health and Playgroup to the community every Tuesday. Before and After School Care is available everyday throughout the school term, by booking only (from 6:30am till 6pm), for students enrolled at the school.

21st Century Learning Environment

Our new SCHOOL, was built in 2010 as part of the 2009 federally funded, The Nation Building- Economic Stimulus Plan, commonly referred to as the B.E.R project (Building an Education Revolution). The project valuing at $1,270,000 created a large modern, open planned building. The new building has 5 defined classrooms areas and a large multipurpose room all under the one roof, giving our students room to thrive within traditional style classroom structures but also optimises on opportunities within our curriculum to foster strong family values with a variety of multi-age activities and community events. We operate two classrooms. Our JUNIOR ROOM for Foundation to year 2 students and our SENIOR ROOM for Year 3 to Year 6 students. Within our building we are able to provide specialitst subject rooms with our fully equipped Music Band Room, Library and Art room whilst Spanish, Science, Rich Tasks and EQ are taught within our classroom settings . Our large indoor multipurpose space ensure that physical activities will always be provided and not hindered by the extreme elements of the weather. Our 1:1 laptop program and Interactive Whiteboards in every room, ensure that curriculum standards in technology are maintained and embedded throughout our daily programs. The school fosters close links with parents and the broader school community through its commitment to open and regular communications. We pride ourselves on our family focused atmosphere with Annual Family Excursions, Barnawartha Head in the Hole Family Day, Barnawartha Community Garage Sale as well as our annual FETE, mid term family nights and end of term family dinners. We hold a monthly Sausage Sizzle and Cake Stall on the first Saturday of the month at the local store. We also communicate our newsletter through instant messaging on our school App on Tiqbiz. Classrooms are supported by both male and female Education Support Staff 5 days per week and our students and families also have access to our Student Engagement Coordinator. Emotional Intelligence (EQ) underpins the virtues of the Barnawartha Primary School ‘Barny Stars’, where students are taught to be Safe and responsible citizens, Respectful and honest individuals and successful and confident Learners. EQ skills embed these virtues through the Golden Rule: “To Treat Others The Way You Want to be Treated”. Students who demonstrate high standards in these virtues are acknowledged within the school and community. See our website for more information at:

Fete thank you.
A huge thank you to our incredible staff, families and wider community who helped make today’s fete such a wonderful success.

There were so many people who stepped up behind the scenes and throughout the day to lend a hand. To our parents and staff who baked delicious treats and prepared the baked potatoes, thank you. To the parents who organised the car show and entertainment, thank you. To the families who took on extra shifts at stalls without being asked — your help did not go unnoticed. Thank you.

Thank you also to the families who generously donated items for the fete, including lollies, chocolates and soft drinks for our student stalls, and Easter eggs for our upcoming Easter raffle.

We’re grateful to everyone who arrived early to help with set up and to those who stayed behind to help pack everything away.

A special thank you to our amazing staff who gave up their Saturday to help create the moments that become lasting memories for our students and families.

And thank you to our wonderful entertainment and catering partners: Border Bouncy Castles, Snichols, Red Gum Wood Fired Pizza, Arty Pants and our very own School Council President, Ben.

Finally, thank you to our community for coming out and supporting another fantastic event. And thank you to our visiting stall holders for sharing your creative talents with our community.

We are strong believers that it takes a village to raise a child. Our fete is a reminder that when people step forward, pitch in, and get involved, something truly special and fun happens, and that’s the power of a connected community.

Thank you to everyone for a fantastic day.

A big thank you to Jenna and Tyler from Tallowood Farm for generously donating the beautiful flowers our students used to create these jars of posies for the fete.

These gorgeous handmade posies will be available on the day, but you’ll need to get in early so you don’t miss out!

We’re so grateful for the support from our local community in helping make our fete extra special.

Our School Fete is this Saturday….Only Days Away!

The countdown is on and we need your help to build the excitement!

Our fete is a wonderful chance for our community to come together for a fun day filled with games, food, stalls and entertainment. But the best way to make it a huge success is by spreading the word.

📣 How you can help:
• Share our event on your socials
• Tell friends, family and neighbours
• Invite people from your local clubs or community groups
• Bring along family and friends on the day

The more people who come, the more vibrant and successful our fete will be for our students, school and community.

Let’s fill the day with laughter, connection and community spirit. We can’t wait to see everyone there!

Thank you for helping us spread the word!

Guess the Lollies in the Jar!

Think you’ve got a good eye for numbers? Come and try your luck at the Senior Room Students’ Stall at our fete on Saturday the 14th March.

Take a guess at how many lollies are in the jar for your chance to win the whole jar to take home. It’s fun, it’s sweet, and anyone can have a go!

Bring your friends, test your guessing skills, and support our students while you’re there.

Who will be the closest guess?

Our Environmental Leaders, under the guidance of out parent volunteer, Leah, were busy this morning making plans and lots of progress in our gardens. We love that these moments are just as rewarding for our students and volunteers when we hear that both are looking forward to next time they meet. Thanks so much for your time, Leah, to nurture and lead our leaders in their new role.

Specialist Music with Miss P
I was lucky enough to be able to pop over to the Junior Rooms music session on Tuesday. There was lots of rhythm, dancing, music and movement happening. Part of their lesson was playing their instruments to reflect an emotion. Groups of students were given an emotion - of either angry, happy, shy and tired. They then had the challenge to pick instruments and play them to reflect the emotion. They even changed their body language to fit the vibe. I wonder if you can pick their emotion 🤔 😊😡🫣😴

Specialist Music with Miss
The Middle Room were very focused on strumming patterns, rhythm and beat with ukuleles on Tuesday.
