🟢🟡Educator 5 Star Best School🟡🟢

We are incredibly proud to announce that Barham High School has received another national recognition for 2026, being named one of The Educator’s 5-Star Best Schools in Australia!

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

This award recognises schools from all sectors from Australia (Public, Private and Independent), that are delivering outstanding educational experiences for their students, and for BHS it is further recognition of what can be achieved in a small rural public school when high expectations, opportunity and equity sit at the centre of everything we do.

At Barham High School, we continue to work hard to remove barriers, expand opportunities and ensure that being educated in a rural community never limits what a young person can achieve.

Our students have access to a broad academic curriculum, extensive VET and pathway opportunities, targeted literacy and numeracy support, extension and enrichment programs, comprehensive wellbeing support and an increasing range of extracurricular experiences — all while continuing our commitment to making education as accessible as possible for every family.

This recognition belongs to our students, staff, families and wider community. Our staff continue to go above and beyond to create opportunities that would once have seemed impossible for a school of our size, and our students continue to embrace those opportunities with pride.

To be recognised nationally alongside some of Australia’s leading schools is something our entire community should be proud of.

We are proudly public.
We are proudly rural.
We will continue trying our best in leading the way in rural education.

🟢🟡Cattle Pavillion🟡🟢
In 2025 the P&C was successful in their application for the Royal Agricultural Society of NSW $25,000 grant, which BHS has co-contributed to build our very own BHS Cattle Pavillion down at the Ag Plot!
The plan will be for BHS to host our very own parading competitions in preparation for larger parading competitions.
Works have commenced with the 12m x 10m pavilion looking at being completed in the next week or two.
Thank you to RAS NSW and to the BHS P&C for applying.

Congratulations to our Stage 5 debating team who defeated Finley today. The topic was that citizens should be able to vote on social reform alongside federal elections. Our team argued the negative stance. Well done team!

🟢🟡🏆 TWO NATIONAL AWARDS 🏆🟡🟢

We are incredibly proud to share that Barham High School has been named the winner of TWO Australian Rural Education Awards!

🏆 Australian Rural Education Award – Vocational Education
🏆 Australian Rural Education Award – Innovative Project

Presented at the 2026 SPERA Australian Rural Education Awards in Ballarat, these are national awards recognising outstanding practice in regional, rural and remote education across Australia.

For a small rural public high school from a community of around 2,500 people to be recognised nationally in not one, but two separate areas of education is an extraordinary achievement.

The Vocational Education Award recognises the breadth and quality of the vocational education and pathways available to our students, including our extensive VET offerings, industry-standard facilities, work placements and pathways into employment, apprenticeships and further education.

The Innovative Project Award recognises our whole-school approach to removing the barriers that can sometimes limit opportunity for young people in rural communities. Through our no-cost education model, broad curriculum, targeted programs, partnerships and expanded opportunities, we continue to work towards a simple goal – ensuring our students have access to an education and opportunities comparable with students anywhere in Australia.

Mr Yu accepted these awards, but they belong to our students, staff, families, community and partners who continue to support what we are building at BHS.

We have always believed that being educated in a small rural community should never place a limit on what a young person can achieve.

Last night, the work being done to make that belief a reality at Barham High School has been recognised on the national stage.

We couldn’t be prouder.

Two Australian Rural Education Awards are coming home to Barham! 🏆🏆

We are also proud of our NSW DoE Regional, Rural, Remote and Unique Settings (RRRUS) Directorate - Dean White (Executive Director) Louise Del Popolo (Director), Martin Dickens (Principal Policy Officer), Meghan Walsh (Senior Policy Officer) and their team on their award for their partnership with University of Canberra.

💚💛 Leading the way in rural education.
