Year 1 students have been discovering fascinating facts like this as part of our English unit on informative texts. Throughout the unit, students researched Australian birds, recorded important facts and used their learning to write informative sentences.
As a final project, students designed informative posters about magpies, combining their research, writing and creativity. It has been wonderful to see their confidence grow as they learned to share information with others.
What a fantastic effort by our young learners! 👏✨

🌱🔬 Planting the Seeds of Science 🔬🌱

Next week, we celebrate National Science Week, with this year's theme, "Seeds of Science: Nurturing Knowledge for All."
The theme reminds us that, just like seeds need the right conditions to grow, curiosity, inquiry, collaboration and discovery help knowledge flourish. At St Joseph's Bardon, we love creating opportunities for our students to ask questions, investigate ideas and explore the world around them.
As we prepare for a week of scientific discovery, our Year 3 students recently enjoyed an inspiring STEM visit with students from Mt Maria College. Through a series of exciting science demonstrations and experiments, our students discovered how science comes to life in high school and beyond. The experience sparked plenty of curiosity, thoughtful questions and wonder as they explored the science behind each activity.
Thank you to the students and staff from Mt Maria College for sharing their knowledge, enthusiasm and love of STEM with us.
Mrs Byrne, our STEM Education Officer, has prepared an exciting week of wonder. We can't wait to see what discoveries await during Science Week! 🌱✨

🤎 Grandparents Day at St Joseph's Bardon 🤎
Today, our school community gathered in gratitude and celebration for the grandparents and special people who fill our lives with love, wisdom, faith and care.
Our Grandparents Day Liturgy was a beautiful opportunity to reflect on the important role grandparents play across generations. Together, we gave thanks for their stories, encouragement, prayers and the countless ways they help shape who we are.
There was a wonderful sense of excitement throughout the school as our students proudly welcomed their grandparents into their classrooms. Students eagerly shared their learning, special projects and the everyday experiences that make St Joseph's such a special place to belong. These moments remind us of the strength of family, the value of connection across generations, and the important role grandparents play in nurturing faith, hope and love.
