Duck Creek Road design in the works - The Canungra Times 04/09/2024

Progress report - A detailed design for what is needed to reopen Duck Creek Road is now being conducted by Scenic Rim Regional Council .
This report will help prove Council is "shovel ready" to proceed if they are successful with a funding grant.

The petition to the date of the meeting has been presented to Council. The response to the petition has been wonderful. So many people from far and wide have left comments as they signed that will help enormously with grant applications.

The petition is still open to keep collecting signatures and people's stories about their connection to Duck Creek Road.

Duck Creek Road design in the works - The Canungra Times DETAILED design plans for the reconstruction of Duck Creek Road are finally in the works, drawing praise from long-time advocates for the road’s reopening.

A bit of housekeeping
As part of the security measures for signing an epetition you are sent an email to confirm that you are the owner of the email you are signing with. It is important that you respond to this email otherwise your signature won't count. At the moment we have 258 unconfirmed signatures. So if you don't remember confirming your signature via email please check your inbox and junk mail folders.
If we added the unconfirmed signatures to the current total we would be up to 1919!

As promised, we will try and explain what has been happening, what businesses are supporting us and how you will be able to help.

This is a presentation that gives a brief overview of the history of this community built treasure. It is also a summary of what we are asking for. It has been presented to Council.

The purpose of this presentation is to explain our complex story to people who are new to the Duck Creek Road. We thought this also might be a good way to start explaining ourselves to you on the Friends of Duck Creek Road too 😊

Let us know what you think?

Welcome back to the Friends of Duck Creek Road! Thanks to the previous admin of this page for allowing us to use it to let you know what is happening with Duck Creek Road.

Yes, Duck Creek Road is still closed.

Yes, we are trying to get Duck Creek Road open.

We are a group of local residents and businesses owners who have been working with the objective of reopening Duck Creek Road. We are in communication with Council but now feel the need to bring the rest of the community along for the journey and make our voice louder.

Over the next few posts we will try and explain what has been happening, what businesses are supporting us and how you will be able to help.

Duck Creek Road is a CLOSED ROAD and will remain so until the Scenic Rim Council allocates the funding to repair the road.

Until I have official word from said authorities that the road is open and can be traversed the closure will stay in place and any messages received will be responded to with the same details.

I would suggest very highly that all the followers that are on this page reach out to the scenic rim council and the beaudesert council to express your desire too see the road reopened.

Hi to all the followers
Finally i have some information about the Duck Creek Road and any actions being taken to repair the road.

Unfortunately the news is not good.

This is a direct exert from the Beaudesert Times as of the 10-10-18.

Now i know most of you will be asking "but why, surely they have enough money from the donation box",
These donations would be a minuscule amount to what is actually needed.

It also needs to be considered that there is still that one percent of 4WD owners that continue to take it upon themselves to ignore the Road Closed Signs and put themselves and the environment in danger just to show how much of a HERO they actually are.

Ask yourselves, why would any council body be it local or state spend any money or a road that is just going to be chewed up and destroyed by HERO 4WD owners.

I can just hear it now if someone actually gets injured or even worse, Killed, just because they took it upon themselves to be somewhere they should not have been in the first place. Sue the Council / they should have done more / its all someone else's fault.

The Road will remain closed and for ever more.

Such a pity that more respect was not shown in the past, maybe if it was then just maybe the council would have thought of it being a viable road to fix and for everyone to enjoy in a respectful manner.

For all those that want to have a go at me for what i have posted about the one percent that wants to just tear up everything, get over yourselves,

This was NEVER a 4WD park where you could do anything you wanted at anytime.
Go find a real 4WD park where the facilities are available for you to show your off your capabilities.

Anyways that's my rant done.

Thanks for visiting this page

Hi all followers,
There have been many many posts with people asking, is the road open, is work being done on the road to reopen it, how can we get something happening to reopen the road.

It is very encouraging to see so many people willing to put their hand up to help and while the comments are appreciated and admirable there must be some reality put around the condition of the road and attempts to fix it.

The road is actually the owned by the Beaudesert Council who make the call on whether the road is open or not.
The damage to the road by all accounts is extreme from the very start of the road to the end.
It may not be as bad on the flats when you get past the climbs, but it is the hills, that as you can see by the drone footage, where the road simply does not exist anymore.

To repair this type of damage you require a lot of heavy earth moving equipment, materials, engineers, surveyors, Council has to be involved, all this costs money and ultimately could run into hundreds of thousands of dollars to repair it to a traversable state.

Mother nature does what she does and unfortunately on this occasaion a beautiful part of the world was subject to her will.

I and many others would one day love to be able to drive Duck Creek Road again, as it holds some very specail memories for myself and my family, but until the council decides it is a viable road to fix, it will stay closed indefinately.

If any of the followers of this page would like to make more enquiries about when the road will be open again or if there are any plans to repair the road may i direct you to the Scenic Rim Council for further information.
