Data science can improve the health of whole communities - but those communities need to understand how it's being used.

Becki Cook, a Nukunul woman and PhD candidate at QUT (Queensland University of Technology), is working with the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Community Health Service in Brisbane on data literacy.

The project aims to empower community to use data in ways that are defined by, and beneficial to, them.

Happy World Bee Day! 🐝

Clancy Lester, bee researcher, says there are plenty of undescribed species of honeybee - especially in Australia.

“We know so much about European honeybees, but barely anything about our own native honeybees!”

He's done research with the Yolŋu people in Arnhem Land on native honeybee movements to understand why their honey harvest has been changing.
