NAIDOC Week at Wattawa Heights PS - 50 Years of Deadly

What a special day of culture, connection and learning at Wattawa Heights Public School!
As part of our NAIDOC Week celebrations, our students participated in the Wandana Cultural Immersion Program, learning alongside Aboriginal Educators through storytelling, music, cultural artefacts, traditional knowledge, ceremony and art.

A highlight of the day was coming together for our Smoking Ceremony, with students, staff and families sharing in this meaningful cultural experience. Throughout the day, students also contributed to our collaborative School Story Painting, creating a lasting piece that represents our school, community and connection.

A huge thank you to Wandana Aboriginal Education for sharing their knowledge, stories and culture with us and to our families who joined us for the morning ceremony.

We hope you enjoy this snapshot of our wonderful day!

Walking together through story, culture and connection.

Education Week & Book Week 2026

What a wonderful day of celebration at Wattawa Heights Public School!

We began the morning by welcoming our families into our Open Classrooms as part of Education Week. It was wonderful to see parents and carers joining their children in the classroom, participating in learning activities and getting a glimpse of the fantastic learning that takes place at WHPS every day.

The celebrations continued with our Book Parade, bringing the Book Week theme “Symphony of Stories” to life! Our students and staff looked amazing in their colourful, creative and imaginative costumes and it was fantastic to see so many families joining us for the fun.

A huge thank you to our students, staff and families for making the day such a memorable celebration of learning, reading, creativity and our wonderful school community.

Enjoy some highlights from our Education Week and Book Week celebrations!
