𝗧𝗼𝗽 𝟱 𝘁𝗶𝗽𝘀 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗺𝗮𝗸𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘁𝗼𝗱𝗱𝗹𝗲𝗿 𝘆𝗲𝗮𝗿𝘀 𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗿𝗶𝗳𝗶𝗰 thanks to L.A. Parent
💜 𝗨𝘀𝗲 𝗽𝗼𝘀𝗶𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗽𝗵𝗿𝗮𝘀𝗶𝗻𝗴. Have you ever tried to tell a toddler not to do something? Did they listen? Try telling your toddler what to do instead of what not to do.
💜 𝗣𝗿𝗮𝗶𝘀𝗲 𝗱𝗲𝘀𝗶𝗿𝗲𝗱 𝗯𝗲𝗵𝗮𝘃𝗶𝗼𝘂𝗿. Most kids love attention, especially from their parents. Praise, cheer and compliment following directions, communication, playing appropriately and effort for all of the new things they’re learning. This will increase those behaviours you want to see.
💜 𝗚𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗰𝗵𝗼𝗶𝗰𝗲𝘀. As toddlers transition from baby to big-kid status, they often seek control of their environment. Giving them lots of choices throughout their day lets them feel a sense of control and reduces whining, tantrums and negotiations. Keep the phrasing simple and hold up items, if they’re accessible, so they have a visual.
💜 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗺𝗽𝘁 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗺𝘂𝗻𝗶𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻. Prompt your toddler to use their signs or words when they want or don’t want something, instead of whining or having a tantrum.
💜 𝗚𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝘁𝗿𝗮𝗻𝘀𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝘄𝗮𝗿𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴𝘀. Prep your toddler for upcoming events, especially changes to the normal routine. Give them 2- and 1-minute warnings before transitioning away from an activity. Using “first-then” language to help them know what’s coming.

Fostering independence in toddlers can be difficult
🙄 but it is a valuable trait as it promotes -
✅ Confidence and Self-esteem,
✅ Motivation and Perseverance in school, and
✅ Fosters Self-reliance.
𝐈𝐟 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐰𝐨𝐮𝐥𝐝 𝐥𝐢𝐤𝐞 𝐭𝐨 𝐚𝐬𝐬𝐢𝐬𝐭 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐜𝐡𝐢𝐥𝐝, 𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐫𝐭 𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐡 𝐬𝐨𝐦𝐞𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐬𝐦𝐚𝐥𝐥. For example, allow them to pick what they wear and get ready (as much as they can!), on their own. This will allow your little one to feel they have control over their life and give them a little self-satisfaction when the job is complete 👌

Take a moment today to say thank you to your bestie! National Best Friend Day aims at celebrating best friends and the contribution that these friends make in our lives.
Does your child have a best friend yet? Perhaps they do but are unsure what that means. Here are a few ideas you can share with your child:
🧡 A best friend is a friend that you consider closest to you.
🧡 A best friend is a person that you happily play, create, or learn with.
🧡 A best friend if someone who accepts you just as you are.
Friendships help to support children's emotional and social development, while increasing a child’s capacity for understanding and unselfishness. Having friends boosts happiness, well-being, and self-confidence.

👐 Hand-eye 👀 coordination is a fundamental ability that lies at the core of many academic, sports, and life skills. It allows children to use their sight and muscles to perform tasks such as writing, drawing, or catching a ⚾️ ball.
Here are two ideas to help your child’s hand-eye coordination to develop further:
💦 Make a pouring station at home to help hand-eye coordination in a fun way for toddlers! This is one of those educational activities that kids love. How do you do this? Get some plastic measuring cups, water, bowls, jugs, or whatever else you can find, and let them pour to their heart's content!
🎨 Finger painting is a time-honoured tradition for toddlers. But, did you know that this is more than just an activity that keeps them busy? This helps hand and eye coordination, fosters imagination, and can aid in learning their colours.
