A few more highlights from our Year 5 and Year 6 camps this week!

Year 5 students brought their classroom learning on colonial history to life, putting their prospecting skills to the test at the Bathurst Goldfields and learning the art of gold panning as they discovered what life was like for diggers during the 1850s gold rush. A few lucky flakes were found along the way! They also explored traditional Aboriginal art and design and tried their hand at boomerang throwing, which was a great chance to connect with culture and Country and learn new skills.

Year 6 students visited Parliament House and took part in an interactive session with the Parliamentary Education Office, where they sat in the chambers and role-played parliamentary debates to see first-hand how laws are made and debated. At the Australian War Memorial, Lachlan shared a speech with his classmates about his dad, Sergeant Peter Cafe, whose name is on the Roll of Honour, reminding everyone that every name there has a story. Students finished the trip on a high with an action-packed visit to Questacon.

Our Stage 3 students have made wonderful memories and will be ready for the term break after a BIG few days.

It was wonderful to wrap up Term 3 celebrating Year 12 at their Formal last night and Graduation Assembly on Wednesday.

We wish them all the best for their upcoming HSC exams and pray God's peace and blessing over them as they embark on the next chapter. It's been a privilege to be part of their story, and we are proud of the young people they have become.

The good news continues, with ten Year 12 students nominated for possible inclusion in SHAPE, the HSC Showcase for Design and Technology.

SHAPE is a highly regarded exhibition of exemplary major projects by HSC students across NSW studying Design and Technology, Industrial Technology, and Textiles and Design. A nomination is a significant accomplishment, recognising the creativity, skill, commitment and persistence these students have shown throughout their HSC studies.

Our Stage 3 students are having a fantastic time on camp, exploring the sights of Bathurst and Canberra. Day 1 was packed full of learning and fun!

Year 5 took a historical journey through Bathurst Cemetery and explored the foundations of colonial Australia, uncovering fascinating stories of pioneer life, early local architecture, and Bathurst's key role in inland expansion.

Year 6 went on an immersive museum exhibition tour, giving students a hands-on look at history and innovation. They also visited Parliament House, where young minds were put to the test through engaging, interactive voting stations, offering a practical lesson in how modern democracy works. To wrap up the day, students took a scenic drive through the diplomatic precinct, discovering foreign embassies using their Diplomatic Mission Maps.

Congratulations to Year 12 Music students Elliot and Zachariah, who have been nominated for possible inclusion in ENCORE, the annual HSC Music showcase.

ENCORE celebrates outstanding HSC Music students from across NSW, featuring performances, compositions and musicology projects. Both Elliot and Zachariah were nominated in the Music Performance category.

An ENCORE nomination is a significant achievement, and we are thrilled to see these students recognised for their hard work and many years of commitment to their instrument. Special mention also to their teachers and tutors, who have provided tremendous support and guidance throughout their HSC studies.

We don't often get the chance in schools to slow down and really think together about big, living questions that run through our classrooms, staffrooms, families and community. The 2026 Inaburra Founders Lecture was one of those rare opportunities, and the topic this year was Neurodiversity. What a special night!

Thank you to our main speaker, Dr Louise Gosbell, who articulated the beauty and necessity of difference with wisdom and nuance; and to our wonderful panel, Kathryn Martens, Tim Perkins and Vanessa Culbert, who each spoke with great insight from their unique vantage points.

A special thanks also to Anastasia Kim for sharing her real and compelling story, and to our own Leader of Innovation and Research, Lyndal Tait, who designed and directed the evening.

We trust our guests walked away with a greater understanding of neurodiversity within educational settings, and a renewed hope for how we can each contribute to embracing one another's strengths for the benefit of all.
