To our Spunky Monkeys educators: thank you for seeing every child, believing in their potential and bringing patience, knowledge, intention and heart to your work each day.

Today, on Early Childhood Educators’ Day, we recognise early childhood education for what it truly is—work that helps shape a child’s understanding of themselves, others and the world around them.

An educator sees learning in the everyday moments.

When a child waits for a turn, they are learning patience and respect.

When they keep trying to complete something difficult, they are building confidence and persistence.

When they are supported through a big emotion, they are learning that they are safe, understood and not alone.

When an educator listens closely to a child’s ideas, that child learns that their voice matters.

Our educators notice the things that can easily go unseen—the emerging interests, the quiet changes, the new confidence and the different ways each child communicates and connects.

They create relationships that allow children to feel safe enough to explore, make mistakes, try again and discover who they are.

While no gift could ever fully reflect the value of the work you do, we hope these small gifts serve as a reminder that your contribution is seen, valued and deeply appreciated.

Although the impact of your work may not always be visible straight away, it becomes part of the foundation each child carries with them into the future.

“Did you know today is the first day of Spring?” expressed Henry excitedly.
Henry’s enthusiasm sparked a meaningful discussion among the children about the changing season and what Spring means to them. Together, we explored the signs of Spring, sharing our ideas, experiences and predictions about what we might see and notice as the season unfolds.
With the sun shining brightly, we headed outdoors to engage in a water-painting experience. Each child was invited to create their own interpretation of Spring, using their creativity and imagination to represent what the season means to them.
It was wonderful to see the children’s individual ideas and perspectives emerge through this open-ended experience. We can’t wait to see how their interest and curiosity about Spring continues to grow and evolve throughout the season!

Today we’re celebrating Emily and wishing her a very Happy Birthday! 💜💚

Since joining Spunky Monkeys, Emily has become a strong and dependable leader within our team. She is someone who is always willing to step in, help where needed and simply get in and give things a go.

Emily’s support also extends beyond her own service. She is always happy to help our other Spunky Monkeys services, share her knowledge and support the wider team when needed.

Her practical approach, positive attitude and willingness to work alongside her team are qualities we really value.

Safe sleep is important for every baby, both at home and while in care.

Red Nose recommends six key steps to help reduce the risk of sudden infant death for babies aged 0–12 months:

• Always place baby on their back to sleep
• Keep baby’s face and head uncovered
• Keep baby smoke-free before and after birth
• Provide a safe sleeping environment during the day and at night
• Sleep baby in their own safe sleep space in a parent or caregiver’s room for the first six months

🎉 Happy Birthday, Estelle!🎉

Today we are celebrating our wonderful Estelle and wishing her a very Happy Birthday! 🥳💜💚

Estelle joined our Spunky Monkeys Bangor team in January 2026 and has quickly become such a valued part of the service.

As the Lead Educator in our Gorilla Room, Estelle brings so much energy, enthusiasm and positivity to each day. She is always ready to get involved with the children, support their learning and create a fun, engaging environment where they can feel confident and connected.

Estelle is also a fantastic support to the wider team and has built such positive relationships with our families. Her approachable nature and genuine care help create the warm, welcoming environment we value so much at Bangor.

Estelle, thank you for everything you bring to our children, families and team. We hope you have a fantastic birthday and a wonderful year ahead! 🎂🎈

🐾 Vet Visit at Spunky Monkeys Bangor 🐾
Last week we had a very special visit from our local veterinarian, who spent time with the children teaching them about animal safety and responsible pet care.
The children were excited to meet a variety of animals and learn about their unique characteristics, needs, and behaviours. Through hands-on experiences, they discovered the importance of being gentle, respectful, and safe around household pets and animals in our community.
One of the highlights of the visit was having the opportunity to pat and interact with the animals, helping the children build confidence, empathy, and a deeper understanding of how to care for our furry friends.
A big thank you to our local vet for sharing their knowledge and creating such a meaningful and engaging learning experience for the children.

🌟🐵 Celebrating 15 Years with Spunky Monkeys!🐵🌟

This month, we are proud to celebrate an incredible milestone for one of our longest-serving educators, Marisa Wheeler, who has dedicated 15 amazing years to the Spunky Monkeys family! 💛🎉

Want to know what 15 years in Early Childhood Education might look like?

🍌 Peeling thousands of bananas.
🩹 Applying countless band-aids.
🧦 Reuniting tiny socks, hats and drink bottles with their rightful owners.
🪑 Sitting on thousands of tiny chairs and somehow still managing to get back up again.
💬 Hearing "Watch me!" and "Can you look at this?" more times than anyone could count.
💕 Receiving endless hugs, handmade cards and heartfelt "You're my favourite teacher!" moments.

To put 15 years into perspective, a baby Marisa cuddled and comforted when she first joined Spunky Monkeys could now be in high school, learning to drive and planning for life beyond school. What an incredible impact Early Childhood Educators have on children's lives.

Congratulations, Marisa, on this wonderful milestone and thank you for 15 years of dedication, passion and care. We are so proud to celebrate you! 🎉🐵💛

Worms, Insects & More 🪱🐛
Many of our children have been exploring our natural environment which has supported their findings of a variety of insects and worms. To extend upon this, we curated a table experience which extended upon their knowledge by adapting further research, facts and relative resources.
We look forward to see how this further extends our learning of the natural environment and how we can adapt our growing worm farm.

From construction play using loose parts to experiences that support children's understanding of their five senses, our little learners are engaged in a variety of meaningful, play-based learning opportunities each day.

🌟 Celebrating 10 Years with Spunky Monkeys! 🌟

At our recent Annual Spunky Monkeys Educators Conference, we had the privilege of celebrating two incredible educators who have each dedicated 10 years to Spunky Monkeys. 🎉

This year, we recognised Sam and Georgia for reaching this remarkable milestone.

In 10 years at Spunky Monkeys, you might have:

☕ Drunk enough coffee to fill a swimming pool.
📚 Read enough stories to start your own library.
👟 Walked enough laps of the playground to travel around Australia.
🖍️ Gone through enough paint, glitter and craft supplies to open an art store.
🤧 Wiped approximately one million noses.
💬 Answered "Why?" more times than anyone could possibly count.
🎓 Helped hundreds of children learn, grow and head off to school.
🤗 Received thousands of hugs, high fives and handmade treasures.
🌱 Watched children grow up, then return years later with younger siblings.

And somewhere in between all of that...

💛 Sam joined Spunky Monkeys as a trainee and has spent her entire 10-year journey at our Lemongrove service. During that time, she completed her traineeship, achieved her Diploma qualification and became a confident and valued Assistant Educator in our Gorilla Room. Sam is always willing to lend a hand wherever needed and has supported other services when required. Along the way, she has also celebrated some wonderful personal milestones, including getting married and welcoming her first child.

💛 Georgia's journey with Spunky Monkeys began as a trainee at Lemongrove and saw her grow through multiple roles across Lemongrove, Cranebrook and Penrith before becoming Centre Director at Penrith. Over the past decade, she has demonstrated dedication, resilience and a genuine passion for Early Childhood Education.

Although Georgia has recently moved interstate with her family, reaching this 10-year milestone is a wonderful reminder of the impact she has had on so many children, families and educators throughout her time with Spunky Monkeys. We are incredibly proud to have been part of her journey and wish her every success in this exciting new chapter.

Ten years is more than a work anniversary.

It represents ten years of relationships built, children nurtured, families supported and memories created. It represents loyalty, growth, resilience and a genuine passion for making a difference in the lives of children.

Over ten years ago, Sam and Georgia joined Spunky Monkeys as trainees. Today, their stories are a testament to the opportunities, growth and lifelong connections that can be built in Early Childhood Education.
