One of our repeat clients, 9 years running with Tarramba bulls — sent through some videos this week that tell the story better than we could.
600 Brahman steers, born on basalt country north of Hughenden, sent on agistment to the Downs as yearlings, now going into CQ feedlots at 420kg average.
The sires behind these steers have been intensely selected each year against a number of traits, with the Live Export Index carrying the most weight. LEI puts significant emphasis on fertility, which flows through to more kg/ha for the buyer to sell.
What a great tool for northern producers — lifting fertility while still turning off well-grown Brahman steers into the CQ feedlots.
Our clients' cattle are some of the best to handle, and we've purchased hundreds of them back ourselves to background in CQ and send on to feedlots. More calves, more kg — without giving up growth or finishing ability.
