Meno Collective

Meno Collective Coaching busy midlife women to thrive personally and professionally. Melissa wishes she had known more about menopause.

Founded by Melissa MacGowan after she quit her corporate career to improve her health after struggling with burnout and the early onset of menopause at 44. Melissa realised there was a total lack of awareness on the many impacts of menopause at work and decided to do something to change that. She wants women and workplaces to be aware and prepared. She is passionate about educating and empowering

women and workplaces. She challenges the wider world to view menopause as a wellbeing, commercial and cultural workplace opportunity.

Put your night goggles on. It’s actually wild.
Drinking habits are just one example of where we have less intention and control than we think.

“I’ve noticed you’ve referenced your age multiple times today” I said to my client this week. “Have I got that right?” 🤔🤔🎤🎤cue insight from my client who went on to surface beliefs about age, growth and career transition.

Externalised and internalised ageism run deep. I read this in the today and it serves as a good reminder to surface and upgrade our beliefs to fuel our growth.

“A mission statement is not something you write overnight but fundamentally your mission statement becomes your constitution, the solid expression of your vision and values. It becomes the criterion by which you measure everything else in your life.” – Stephen Covey

Freedom and curiosity are core values and mirth stars for me. Curiosity and freedom lead me to this cliff top hidden bar and off the cliffs into the water in my un**es 20+ years ago 😂🍺.

It’s always an “AHA” for my coaching clients when they let values have more of a role in guiding their careers and career transitions.

Wednesday win: yin yoga to help hardwire recovery and support stress resilience. Louis (11) and I love it. If you are local - go to and do your nervous system a favour.

Have you tried yin? Particularly good for my fellow “yangers” out there.

Her workload was massive. Another restructure was looming. She worked longer hours to cope. Did I mention perimenopause?

Sleep was one of the first things she was willing to compromise. It often is.

Her fuse was shorter. She was annoyed with herself and frustrated with others. She put on weight.

Sleep deprivation steels effectiveness at work and emotional wellbeing in life.

Something had to give. We worked on prioritisation, planning and delegation. She set goals to get to bed earlier and having 30 mins of chill time prior. The mid week glass of wine had to go because it helped her fall asleep and lead to less sleep and shallow sleep.

Months later she has energy for exercise, is confident and her performance and her job security. Peri is under control. I recalled this client today because I am working on getting more sleep as I reestablish routines. I need 7-8 hours to have a positive down stream impact on work and life. You?

Are you getting enough sleep?

Keeping your head above water is where it’s at some years.

Not this year. Not for me. In 24 I want more. It starts with intention.

I will stay afloat, focus, grow, feel grounded and help others do the same this year.

What about you?

It’s “I can’t recall the last time I ate green veggies” time of year.

To rectify the said lack of green and other vege amongst the festive fodder, I just hit up chat GPT (thanks for the hot tip KD) and got a simple meal plan for this week. Prompts included:

How breakfast balances blood sugar and boosts energy (& we need that).

Opting for a savory breakfast (sometimes - am still a pancake addict) helps me stabilise blood glucose.

Intermittent fasting doesn’t work well for me. Blood sugar dips and cortisol increases. Hello stress, muscle loss & weight gain.

You gotta get to know your body and what works for you. Midlife women do well with a breakfast mix of proteins, healthy fats, and complex carbohydrates, preventing rapid spikes and crashes often associated with sugary options (or nothing). This took me hardly anytime to prep.

👇 what’s in your breakfast bowl?
